Could someone tell me where I could find wiring diagrams for Explorers (2000)? My heated mirrors aren't heating and I'd like to see a diagram before I start taking things apart. I have a Hilton manual which only shows basic engine wiring. :can:

Sorry...that's a Haynes manual, not Hilton.

Haynes/Chilton = Hilton

It is possibly linked with another electrical system (i.e. locks/windows). Check the fuse # to see if there's other associated systems, and then look in the manual for the corresponding diagram. I know there are tons of schematics in the "Body" section 12? maybe? - good luck! Sometimes, what you're looking for just isn't big enough to be listed in the index.

They are tied into your rear windoe defrost. Hope this helps. It's for a '99 but it should be the same :)

Just wondering...did you get your schematic from a Ford Service Manual/CD? If so, is it the same one as found on eBay (usually around $6-10)?

Ya I got it from the CD/Manual and I did buy it off e-bay for around $8. It's just a burnt copy of the original but it'll works just the same

Thanks for the diagram, Dog. Just one more question: do both the passenger and the drivers mirrors say "heated mirrors"? Only the passenger mentions it on mine.

Yes the heated mirrors on mine both say "Heated"

Thanks, Dog. I've got a feeling that my drivers side mirror has been replaced with a conventional mirror, since it doesnt say "Heated". I wonder what other surprises I'll discover.

Ya that's probably it. Mine were regular mirrors when I first got mine too

I received my heated mirrors from Ebay today!!!!...I am not clear on where to tie into the wiring. Do I tie in anywhere between the rear window switch and the fuse junction panel or into the panel itself? I can't make out what color the wire is... dg/ ?t . Is this dark green and ?? Can I just tie in without overloading and blowing a fuse? Thanks!

So, I pulled out the defrost switch and it has the dark green with voilet stripe on it, but it also has a red/blk stripe, black wire, and blue/orange stripe....Can I tie in anywhere between the switch and fuse junction panel?....The wires coming out of the mirror are both black....would I connect one to the dg/vt and the other to the black wire off the back of the switch?

I hooked up to the dg/vt and the black wire behind the switch....the mirror does feel warm but not hot....the rear glass only feels warm too, so I guess its working fine....In the process of trying to install the mirrors and side turn signals, my dash, wheel, and door buttons no longer light up...I guess I tried to hook up to the wrong wires :( The fuses seem to be fine, any ideas?
