Okay I'm thinking this week would be a good time to buy an amp for my speakers. The amp I am getting is a Clarion which puts out 50 x 2 @ 4 ohms or 110 x 2 @ 2 ohms. Here's my question. Should I wire it up so that just my Infinity components are getting 50 watts or should I wire it in @ 2ohms to all 4 speakers.

Pros of 2 ohm set up:
Each speaker is gonna get roughly 55 watts which means more volume.

Cons of 2 ohm set up:
I would lose the ability to fade to just the front speakers.
My headunit has a built in rear low pass crossover so I would also lose that feature (right now off the headunit the rear speakers play frequencies 250 hz and lower).
2 ohms = more heat.

What should I do? If I only power the front speakers with the amp I may not even hear the rear speakers (50 watts vs. 18-20 watts)

Thanks all,
Steve

I would just power the fronts man. Audio guys often call rear speakers "rear fill" just because it is just that. As log as your speakers arent blown dont waste the power on them. Also....just because your HU has a low pass Xover, it isnt on unless you turn it on. which you would want to .
Hope this helped.

I have the rear low pass crossover turned on but if I hooked up the rear speakers up to the amp (which is connected to the front set of preouts) I would lose this. I think I am just gonna hook it up to the front speakers.
