Wonder how hard it would be to do THIS for Explorers? RIZE 8" lift for Expedition

the "h1" has a irs ifs setup like no other. what tyler02 is trying to say is the explorer independent setup is like a sandrail which i is but one fall back. the axle through the frame. once we get around that it is very close to the setup of a sandrail. tyler02 has experience with sandrails, suspension and custom fab work if im not mistake. i think he knows what he is talking about lmao

the new rear setup should take care of the issue with the tire getting pulled forward

As i figured ...

but the more and more I think about it a solid axle seems like it'd be so much more practical and easier to do (for the rear)..

It just seems like you'd run into alot less problems than trying to improvise on the stock setup..

Then again I've never had the opportunity to do a sas as my 3rd gen is my first vehicle..just in theory it seems easier

the think that worries me about the sas is the fact that the rear of the frame gets narrower as it goes back so leaf springs are out of the question. that leaves you with 3/4 link setup which wouldnt be bad but alot of work and cash.

Why would a narrow frame stop you from using leaf springs? Leaves dont always have to mount under the chassis, they can be mounted outside. The Ranger's shackle, for example, is outboard and goes up.

i know what you mean izwack but you would need a six inch bracket to move it to where it would need to be

that would work i have never really looked too far into a sas but that does look like it would do the job for sure. that would be a pretty sick setup and makes it alot simpler. do you know how much they run

Its not really bought. Section25 purchased a steel rectangular tube, sliced it up, put some bling holes through it, and welded the hanger brackets. You're not going to find such an item ready to go for purchase (especially not for a third gen) because there are too many variables for such an item to be "off the shelf".

ill have to see what can be worked up.

i do not understand realy what needs to be done to get some thing like this on the back end.

when i have every thing pulled off i will have a better idea

the bracket would mount to our frame behind the rear tires and allow a mounting point for the rear shackle so the leaf springs. the you need a from shackle poin and your good to go well almost

why are those holes cut out

From you guys saying that the frame is narrow I would take a look at doing something similar to the coil linked rear end on a jeep grand cherokee with the coils being mounted outbound of the frame rails

this is a 2 link with a rear track bar on any stock ZJ, WJ.

Just an idea that may be easier than a leaf pack. Coilovers would be another option.

i cant wait to get back. if 86explorers86 setup isnt done ill have 3 months payed leave to "fix" my truck and get her up in the air

are you saying that you are going to go on an independent rout not using the system i create

your setup is my first choice but if it doesnt follow through then ill find another way to lift it

trust me im not gona let me truck look like this
