Anyone else have this problem or is there something wrong here. I've got a 1997 X 5-speed. My parking brake dont work and I havent had the time to look at it yet. But when I park on a incline like say a drive way. If it's pretty steep when I put it in 1st to hold the truck it starts to roll back slowly. So I usely end of putting it in 4wd Low then 1st to get it to hold. I use to have a 99 Ranger and I never had this problem. Is there something wrong with the Clutch?

I always park my Ex in reverse, and use no parking break. Been doing this with manual trannies for about 30 years with no problems.

Tried that as well, I've had manuals as well and have had no problems My ranger would hold on a HUGE incline with no parking brake. But the explorer seems as if I have it in 5th trying to hold. It just starts to creep down the hill. Scare the heck out of me the first time I got out and it started rolling

Sorry
Got in the wrong catagory, can someone be so kind as to tell me where I might be able to find Entry forms for potential Darwin award winners, have fun, be happy :)

How the clutch??

Sounds like a case of weak valve springs....my $.02

The clutch isnt the best but its not to bad either.

Mine does the same thing. Dont park on sharp inclines or fix your e-brake.
