Ok. So we thought the MAF was bad, so we changed it. Then it wouldnt turn over or anything. Then we changed the starter. And still, nothing. Then we changed the fuel pump. And nothing. Then we found a short on one of the grounds for a relay under the hood. So we ran a ground from the battery to it. N now it cranks over, but still wont start. The fuel pump doesnt turn on when we turn the key over. So theres got to be a short or something from the relays to the pump. Right? Any suggestions??? Please. Anything. Its our only car. We got 2 kids. We need to be able to drive. Anyone else had this problem? Weve been workin on it for 2 weeks and weve ran out of ideas. Im going nutz! . . . Thanks in advance for ANY SUGGESTIONS you have! -Sara-

From everything you're saying I'd try the test the fuel cut off switch. Might be bad, stuck, etc.. This isn't really my areaof expertise but I'm leaning towards the that. NCRanchero would be the man to contact, he's the expert.

Thanks for replying. But we have power comming in and out of the fuel cut off switch. Are u talking about the inertia switch? Cuz we got a key hot comming in and out of that. Thanks tho. Im going to try to contact that guy. Im new to this. And im doing it from my phone, so it makes it really freakin hard to do anything!

Probably a silly question but have you checked fuse number 23 under the hood..its a 20amp fuse that runs the fuel pump motor...

also relay 50b is the fuel pump relay

the relay itself could be bad,
maybe check the ground cables from the battery to the motor and to the chassis

MidnightRebel07 has stretched the truth quite a bit. I am no expert for sure. I've had grease under my fingernails for 40+ years but there are Ford techs here far more knowledgeable than I.

Okay, from the top. You'll have to clarify some things. You're using a volt/ohm meter to check power/grounds or at least a test light to test for power?
Ok. So we thought the MAF was bad, so we changed it.
What caused you to think the MAF was bad? Would the motor crank over before you changed it?

Then it wouldn't turn over or anything. Then we changed the starter. And still, nothing. Then we changed the fuel pump. And nothing.
Either you're not stating the tests you did to determine these needed changing or you didn't do any. That's a lot of work/money and not exactly a logical route to success.

Then we found a short on one of the grounds for a relay under the hood.
Which relay ?

So we ran a ground from the battery to it. Now it cranks over, but still wont start. The fuel pump doesn't turn on when we turn the key over. So there's got to be a short or something from the relays to the pump.
Which relay are you altering the wiring to? You probably should un-do any alterations.

The DTR (Digital Transmission Range) Sensor, aka neutral safety switch, interrupts power to both the starter and fuel pump circuits.

Ok u have been talkin 2 my gf she dnt kno much but neways from the beginning i ran out of gas put gas in it and wouldnt start back up i thought the gas line froze or i was hopeing it did towed it home put it in the garage next mornin it started and wouldnt stay running found vac leak 2 pcv valve then it ran but when u turned the wheel it sputtered so i cleaned the iac and it stopped toook it around the block and it stalled again pushed it hom it started back uu and ran 4 an hour then stalled again but fired rite back up so i replaced iac because it wasnt workin rite tried 2 start but just cranked so i listened 4 pump with key on heard it so tried to start again that wen it stoped cranking so i thought i burned the starter so i tried 2 jump it at the silionoid but couldnt reach it if u ever done a starter on 1 of these ull know wut im tlkin bout so i got the starter out a bench tested it and it spun rite up so i knew it was a short because i had a key hot 2 starter relay if it was the neutral saftey switch

I wouldnt have a key hot there so i had a test light and i had the fuse box under the hood up side down testing 4 power commin out of the starter relay and i stuck the light 2 the ground and had sara try 2 start and it started cranking again so i splised in a wire 2 the bat from relay temperaly 2 figure out the fuel prob so i cecked fuse 23 and relay 50 b first and was good teasted inertia switch key hot in and out so i started 2 drop tank took pump out and tested rite at my bat and it worked fine so i hung tested i a n nothin the is a wire connector rite under the track under driver seat i only got 1 key hot at that plug is there suposed 2 be more? That where i am

O. And can you tell me where you got that diagram. I cant really see it. So that would help me out alot!

I can email it to you but you can't get it where I get it.....:D:D

My email is xxxxxxx What was that a diagrm of? Cuz i could really use one of the wiring from the fuel pump up to the relays. With what each wire is for with corresponding colors!

They sell a paperback book and a CD-ROM version of the Ford factory Build manual on ebaymotors.com, I actually bought both and have used them numerous times.

You have mail

From what I can decipher of your actions it seems then that you have two issues, first fuel system and then starter caused by excessive cranking. IDK, man!
