Go figure...
After suffering from the dreaded voltage guage bouncing, and the corresponding rythmic flicker of the headlamps for several years, I have at last the solution (at least in my case).......
The heater/blower motor needs replacing! (of course....)
After some squeaking on low speeds, then finally finding smoke in the ****pit when I started up yesterday, I decided to plunk in a new motor. I found that the old one was filthy, and was difficult to turn by hand. With the new one in, I started to notice that my electricals were rock steady - a byproduct of the motor swap? Makes sense in a way, as the flicker may be the amperage draw from a motor due to seize up.
Not terribly scientific I suppose, but to all those seeking a solution, perhaps try and unplug the heater blower to see if that solves the flicker for you!
