I haven’t found a thread that discusses worn rubber brake hoses so maybe mine was unique. My ’92 X’s left front rubber brake hose sprung a leak when the upper end of the sway bar link rubbed on it during cornering. I hadn’t noticed the shiny hardware on the link, which was polished from years of wear, until the brakes failed. Fortunately, Ford paid for the out-of-warranty repair and I noticed that they repositioned the brake line support to prevent recurrence. Has anyone else had this problem?

Ford paid for a 92 brake hose?

Thats a story I got to hear! They are pretty good about putting extra molded sections on those areas that might wear. Maybe they had put in the wrong brake hose from the other side and that is why it hung differently. So you complained or they volenteered this?

I calmly explained that the worn hose was a serious safety problem that was installed at the factory. I did this with a a letter to the zone service manager and I told them that I believed that they should pay for the entire repair. They agreed without argument.

As for the hose, it looked just like the old one. They used the existing bracket, which is in the engine compartment, but they rotated it away from the sway bar link berfore bolting it down.
