Would this make my X sound any different?

Hi all, I'm new to owning Explorers. I just got this one in November b/c I wanted 4x4 and my SHO doesnt see snow I store it. Anyway I have a 91' XLT which is stock EVERYTHING. I happen to have a Flowmaster 40 laying in my garage that is still brand new. I'm not really looking for any kinda performance gains, just a meaner sound. Would it make my X sound any better if I simply had my stock muffler cut out and the Flowmaster welded in its place without changing any of the piping or intake? I really don't have the extra $$ to spend right now so I figured if I could slap that Flowmaster on there and it would make a deeper more aggressive sound, then I'm all for it! Gimme your opinions. it would of course make it sound differently (search for flowmaster 40 on this board). i'm not sure about the 1st gens but on the 2nd gens, the muffler has two input pipes and one output pipe, you just have to make sure it all matches - including the tube diameters - or else u'll have to run expander/reducer pipe(s).

Yea it would sound much better, I have a 50 cat back on my x and it sound a hell of a lot better then stock..... I love when someone else is driving it then i really get to hear it take off. sound nice all around.

i just got a flowmaster 40 for my 1st gen and just used the stock piping...it sounds pretty good.....i have sound clips...but i have no clue of any sites that i can upload them to

i did the same thing that youre thinking of. used the stock piping with 40 series delta flowmaster. it sounded good but when i finally got a 2.25" tail pipe put on it now is alot deeper and louder
