Wrong. Ford 4R70W tranny converters have a drain plug. They were made from about 1995-2002. They were used in Ford F150's, Crown Vics, Town Cars, Grand Marquis, Explorers, and some E series Vans. Anything with a Ford 4.6L V8 produced after 1994 8 times out of 10 had the 4R70W behind it. In the case of the Explorers, it was mated to the 5.0L V8.

My 1995 Town car has the 4R70W tranny, converter has a drain plug. There are even access plugs built into the bell housing to get to it. The procedure for draining converters is detailed in the Ford factory service manual.

isnt it also called a catalytic converter in the transmission, as well as the exhaust?

is it also true that they use mustang type transmissions in 91-95 explorers? I have heard my explorers transmission is the same type used in a stang.

torque converter is in a trans
and a catalytic converter in the exhaust

course my mom told me that a catalytic converter is in the trans, but she might of gotten it mixed up, been a long time since shes worked on vehicles.
