I've asked about the 2002 before and got a resounding "no". However, I found a 2002 EB one owner with 78k for $8000. Spotless with all receipts and a one year old transmission installed by the dealer.

Would you consider a 2002 like the above? Or would you still recommend against it?

For this market, it is a very good price.

If it were me I would have no problem buying another 02. The only thing is that price seems so high to me. I guess if your alright paying it though go for it.

I know, here in canuckystan prices are so much higher. They say because it is such a large country and so few of us. I'll try to get him to $7k.

Related question: did any of the EB's come standard with a 2" receiver?

I would never buy a vehicle from a dealer just because I don't like paying sales tax. However, if you don't mind the tax, I would say that it sounds like a good truck.

What are all the receipts for? Anything other than oil changes, such as wheel bearings, differential service, etc.?

Also check to see if the plastic piece on the glass door in the back is cracked.

None of them came with a 2" receiver standard, as far as I know. The 2" receiver was an option, and my XLT came with it from the factory. There probably are some EB's out there with the 2" receiver tube as a factory option.

In Kansas & Missouri it doesn't make a difference if you buy from a dealer or individual you pay sales tax.

This is a private sale -- a dealer would be much more than $8k. I bought it subject to a mechanical inspection. It is very nice. No crack on the rear, no whine, etc. I'm hoping it works out, but with a new dealer trans, should be ok.

I'm guessing there are deals all over on 2002's as so many people are afraid of them.

It has the 2" receiver as an option, which is good.

how much was the tranny replacement ?

My thoughts is they dropped the $ on a tranny replacement and all of a sudden they want to get rid of it?

Hard to say.

good luck and keep us updated.

Tranny was done last year. They just bought a new truck. Cost was $4k.

My guess is they went to trade it in and realized they could get nothing for it from the dealer.

I wouldn't buy a 2002 for any reason.

Well, you asked. ;)

I just paid about $7k from the dealer for an 02 XLT with the tow package, a few more miles though, about 120k
