I have been planning this project for quite some time. I have been building 2 stealthboxes for my X and they look amazing. Before I do anything else I would like to thank BBQ_HotDogs for his inspirational thread and his great write up on his mods. You are truly an asset to this forum. But I would also like to thank him for selling him the left over carpet from his explorer. Without that simple item, this install would never have worked.

So without further delay I would like to present you with the best looking install I could dream up. Unfortunately after the new JBL amp and perfect subs, I don't have the cash to become an elite, so you will have to view pics at my cardomain site. I really am sorry about that.

So there you have it, the write up is extensive on the boxes and I wrote it to be read so please do. Maybe this will inspire others to do what I have done. I would also like to open this up to a question forum. If anyone wants to attempt something similar I would love to help.

With any criticism please keep it positive and offer a way to fix it, or how it could be done better, if anyone finds fault in it.

I won't be able to check this much because I am going to yellowstone tomorrow morning! I just finished everything yesterday because I wanted to wrap up before I left. Needed my cargo space too :)

So hopefully I will see a few replies tomorrow morning. Thanks everyone, and sign the guest book!

Here's some of the pics, icu400 all you have to do is right click on the pic on your car domain site, go to properties, get the url and link it in your reply :)

It looks excellent, you did a nice job and you've still got plenty of cargo room, which is what I like the most. The utility in SUV still remains :)

Oh, right on. Well I might do that when I get back if anyone has any trouble with this, but for now I will just leave it like that since they are all in order there and all.

Thanks for the tip though *gets back to packing*

Dude I am doing almost the exact same thing!!! I am using 2 infinity referance 10's but im fiberglassing them into the back panels to look like they were stock.

Nice. I don't have quite the skill with glass to do that sort of thing I am afraid. Good luck with the install though, and I am sure you won't be disapointed with anything infinity. These things are just so nice!

Very clean and functional. The right side looks just like a qlogic! The left side is done well but I would have tried to match the right side look, although I understand why you did your left side design that way. Awesome job, well thought out. The biggest impression is the right especially since you matched the hole with a shot in the dark. I hate my space hogging box now!

It was not quite a shot in the dark, I did take a few measurements to figure out about where to put it, but I anticipated having to use my dremel to shave the piece down to fit right, but nope, snug as a bug first try.

Did you have to remove your rear window washer tank to do this? Looks like there is no room back there for it. I guess its not to big of a sacrifice, I rarely use mine.

The window washer tank is on the left where the sub juts out into the cargo space a bit. Looks like he just built on top of the rear window washer compartment. The right side was just a small storage area.

Looks really nice ICU, looks better than stock...it looks like it was done by a high end professional audio shop.

Its awful close, either way. I guess maybe he didnt have to build into that rear panel did he. Ok, answered my one question funny's help.

OH and Funny, I bet you are pissed about Marcus Vick getting caught with some weed. He'll probably be suspended atleast half the season.

Yes Marcus Vick is an idiot. It is a damn shame that with all that talent he doesn't have half a brain to stay out of trouble weeks after getting out of court.

On the bright side there won't be a QB controversy this year, and Randall is quite a capable QB. Of course we'll be screwed next year with no proven Quarterback.

I take it you're a gator fan? You think there's any chance Spurrier will go back? As a skins fan I say...you can have him :p. Although I am sure if he goes back to college ball he will return to his previous form.

Actually instead of clogging this thread further, pm me or im me if you wanna talk football :).

Good job. Glad to have been able to help you. How does it all sound now? Have you used any meters yet to get readings?

Looks good!!

The passenger side box looks rather familiar in design :)

Yeup, thats why I sold off my big alpine type r 12 and fosgate amp, I got tired of moving that friggin' sub in and out everytime i wanted to carry something

Now i have a cheapy 10" power acoustik sub running off of the rear 2 channels of my 45x4 amp in a q logic sub box and couldn't be happier

One thing i would recommend is getting or fabbing some nice metal grilles to protect those subs. I had a tool box claim my first sub (and a drill claim my 3rd)

Otherwise, great job!

indeed it does :)

I should have listed you as a reference mate, since I followed your template somewhat closely. I did the part near the back a bit different, but the ispiration was yours.

It sounds very nice. The subs have not quite broken in yet, but it is still amazingly clear!

I did take out the washer fluid tank, since I never use the thing, and I had to build back into there to get the airspace I wanted while not sacrificying too much cargo room.

Thanks for the input, keep it coming.

On this topic though, I would like 2 more pieces of advice for my next mod

1) what sort of grilles should I put over the subs? I am looking for looks as well as protection, I will be using my trunk now ya know :)

2) what sort of components do yall think would match this well, and what is the best place to put the tweeter for good imaging/sq?

Thanks!

(yellowstone was awesome, btw)

BUMP!

Keep the feedback coming guys. I have given the subs a few weeks to break in now and they sound truly amazing. Infinity Perfects really were the perfect subs for me. I have decided to stick with the pioneer 4-ways for now, due to the fact that I need a laptop for school, and I can make due with the coaxials for now.

I did however order some grilles for the subs. They are the audiobahn ones, got them cheap on ebay (figured I can't go wrong with ebay for grilles...heh).

I am gonna stear clear of more LED's for the time. The ones on the fans are so bright that they reflect off my rear view mirror a bit while driving at night. Not dangerous yet, but adding more could make it too bright in the cab at night for my tastes. I also might be selling my sony amp soon, so check out my thread about what it might be powering soon if you want.

Thanks for all yall's help over the past months, I appreciate it all!

I'm kinda curious. Having the 2 subs facing eachother, did you wire one out of phase? The reason i ask is that i've seen people do the same as you did (2 subs opposing eachother) and they'd cancel eachother out. When i told them to try wiring one 180 degrees, they said it improved the sound dramatticly. Can you experiment with this and let us know? (Be careful, some subs don't like the reverse phase, start low and see if it makes a diffrence)

Good call.... Some amps have a phase switch on them - even better :)
