Just returned from the nearest auto parts store (20+ miles one way) with a set of plugs and wires for my 92 stock explorer. Turns out they sold me a set of wires for the 1997-2000 model. Will these fit the 92?

They might fit because the coil pack is the same and the plug end just goes on the plugs like all other wires, but you really want the 91-94 set.

91-97 OHV's share almost all the same parts, but 97-00's are quite a bit different.

All the companies that make the plug wires make different parts for the 91-97 and the 97-00, so that alone would tell me I should be using the set made for the correct model year of the vehicle.

Just use the old wires for now and take the old ones back next time you need to make the trip. You might also want to call them and ask if they have the right ones in stock. They may need to order then in, and you can save yourself a wasted trip if you return them but they don't have the ones you need. Many times, parts stores give you a part that 'should' fit when they don't have the correct part.

Thanks, Anime. I did call the store and they do have the correct set.

Well, then when you exchange them you can ask why they sold you the incorrect set.
