Hey guys. I recently had a clog in the cooling system that ultimately ended in two blown head gaskets and two cracked heads. Moral of this story is DONT USE STOP LEAK like the girl who owned my truck before me. Anyway im looking for a decent used set of cylinder heads for an 99 OHV 4.0 and if you guys have any or can point me in the right direction that would be great!

Thanks!

Sounds like the previous owner used the stop leak exactly like it should be used-as a last resort.

That said, I'm thinking cracked heads are a common problem since, after a quick search, all I seem to find are new cylinder head assemblies for around $200 apiece.

I would reccomend Alabama Cylinder Head. I had to replace mine when I bought it and that's what I went with. Was originally reccomended to me by a very experienced mechanic. They are cast a little heavier in the trouble areas. The price is good also.

Suspect the cause and effect are backward. The girl probably used the leakstop to try to fix the cracked head and gaskets. Works for a little while - long enough to sell it - then failed. And yes cracked heads are pretty common, usually from overheating. Happens fairly regularly that used heads have small cracks in them already, so most folks recommend getting new ones.
