Anytime...ANYTIME you change boost on a forced induction engine, you MUST have it tuned and have the air/fuel ratio checked. Preferably on a chassis dyno. When you are under boost, by the time you hear the pinging, it's too late. Especially without forged pistons.
Greetings: I understand all that, that is why i am having james do a tune for the truck and i am adding a lot for the tune i was just wondering if anyone changed there pulley and what kind of boost they ended up with i bought the 2" pulley and just wanted to make sure that after a tune i dont run into pinging issues.
you need to tell James that you changed pulleys so he can change the tune. If you are properly tuned now, and you change pulleys and increase boost, you will have detonation. What is scary is you can have it and not hear it. That's the point I wanted to make. Any change in boost requires a change to the tune.
Now, if your existing tune is really fat, you may get away with it. But that's a helluva risk.
Greetings: I dont have a tune yet i am waiting to be able to walk again after foot surgery but i have talked with james and he knows that i am changing out the pulley and everything else that i am adding then he will begin to tune the truck. He stated that a guy over in ny also bought a smaller pulley and was doing a tune for him also. I was hoping that guy was on here so i could mabey get his attention or anyone else that may have changed out there pulley. More power and the nice thing the wife says if i blow the motor i get the credit card .
