When I ditched my sport car for an X, I thought the days where everyone wanted to race me from the light were over. But now I've discovered a whole new breed of 40-something yuppies who want to race, cut me off and generally pull into my lane at 40mph, ten feet from the red light.

Usually it's someone in a Toyota Whorerunner or Isuzu Pooper, like this morning. I mean, I drive 5-over the speed limit, keeping pace with traffic but for some reason, these pricks seem to have something to prove by putting everyone in danger in order to be ahead of me. Maybe it's the V8 logo on my rig, maybe not but I suspect it's envy for not buying into the rig that started it all.

Anyone else seen this behavior? Stories?

yup i get the same thing........i always toast the older guys though...no matter what they drive! but i think it is we are cool and bought really fast cars...we just dont know how to drive them.

I always just let them pass, besides I'm coasting to the red light from around 100 feet away anyways just to try to get more than 14mpg. :) Let them waste their gas and money while you "enjoy" your ride.

Yup, same thing here. I ain't a youngster anymore but these 50 somethings in their Escalades & Navigators are really brash (at least here in Houston).

And don't even think of using a turn signal. To them this means floor it so you can't get over. Then they flip you off as if you've done something wrong. I guess just because I drive an agressive looking off-road vehicle that I'm some young punk loser in their eyes. I just smile real big and wave as they pass. This REALLY pisses them off...

Can't say I have that problem. I have the opposite happen with me. All the rice racers seem to keep their distance. . .maybe its because all they can see are my tires. . :)

Way back when I didn't mind having a little safe fun on the roads. But when you realize that every time you floor that gas you put stress on the transmission and engine, not to mention hear the gas being burnt... you learn to let the yuppies do their thing.
