Looking in the Jegs catalog, an H pipe kit is $37.
If I insert this into my exhaust (by insert I mean cut and weld into place) will I gain back some low end torque? Whats to be expected? I know the mustang guys usually run balance H / X piping.

Currently running - dual 2.5" piping with straight through (loud as hell:D :D :D) mufflers. (Like Dynomax's Bullet racing muffler)

Sounds like a good, inexpensive project, but not if it makes things worse.

Give me your thoughts.

Thanks

Jim

definately worth the trouble. not only will you get back a little bit of low-end and midrange, but an H/X pipe will also cut down on interior "droning" exhaust noise. the actual exhaust wont be quieter, it will just be a little quieter on the interior.

thanks james,

just curious-
are you running a crossover pipe?

i have many times in the past, and will here very soon as i'm about to do an entire exhaust replacement from header back.

i am going to buy the kit from Jegs as its only 37 bucks.

I'll post pics when done.

ive gotta cat going out right now, so my idea is run 2.5" from the headers all the way back. i will have a home-made X right infront of the convertors (replacing the stock 4 with 2 hi-flows), somewhat like this pic...

i have a cat that i think is going out right now too...

That looks awesome.

I'm going w/ the H piping due to the ease of cutting it in to existing pipes running parallel.

damn, i'm so dumb. i don't know how to post pics:)

Yea thanks.

I guess I'll learn someday.:p

hey terd rocket, a little advice, i know that kit is easy to install, but the shorter the connecting piece is the better, thats why the "x" design is better

The connecting piece will be less than 6" long :D

I have to measure before I order for two reasons -

1. I have either twin 2.5" pipes or 2.25" pipes. I can't remember.

2. I want to make sure the pipes aren't too close together for the pieces to work.
