xlt 5 spd man. - bucks in "neutral" gas pedal mode
Got this weird problem - maybe someone can chime in - when I'm driving in any gear, but mostly in 3, 4 or 5 and I'm in what I call a "neutral gas peddle mode" where I'm not accelerating or decelerating but just sort of maintaining speed my xlt will buck like someone is tapping the throttle. It's like there's an accelerator control module that's causing it to bump the throttle up and down.
Ford service manager says I'm loading the motor and just need to downshift. What a dill weed, I think I know when to shift. It doesn't happen on acceleration or deceleration just when gas pedal is in that neutral zone between when your creeping along in the same gear. I thought it might be "tps" (throttle position sensor) but I don't want to just throw new parts at it if someone's had a similar problem and solved it or knows what component could cause this. It also does it with cruise control on, but less. I have new plugs and put on factory plug wires 40K ago and still does it. I also replaced the universal joints. I do my own maintenance - well except had new fuel filter installed by dealer ($60 - what a rip) Now I know why the VW tdi club calls them stealerships!
