What year did they go to fulltime frontwheel in the Rangers and what transfercase did they use to engage 4WD.

Not exactly sure what you are asking for, but I expect the answer you are looking for is '98. Up through the '97 model year, Ford put the TTB front end in the Rangers, with auto or manual lockouts at the wheel and the 13-54 t-case. Starting in '98, they put a traditional A-arm IFS in with a vacuum actuated center axle disconnect (CAD). I'm not certain how long the 13-54 was available, but I expect in '98, the 4405 was at least optional. I'm also not certain how long they kept the CAD, as they took the CAD out of Explorers starting in '97.

I believe IFS rangers used PVH hubs, not CAD, I believe sometime around 2000-2001 they went live axle.

Yep, '98 to early-'00 Ranger was PVH. Mid-'00 on up has live spindles (no hubs, shafts are solidly connected).

The Ranger continues on forward with the 1354 t-case since 1990.
