Hi guys, new here. I have a yellow wrench light coming on and shutting down my PCM. Has happened twice and only common denominator is that it was raining. Any thoughts? Looks dry under hood. Speed sensor maybe? Engine codes seem to point to the TPS but I'm doubtful about that. I have read other threads pertaining to this issue but I'm kinda lost tbh.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

Our language on what is happening may differ, but I wouldn't call it shutting down the PCM, rather the PCM has detected a fault and either it shut down the engine, or the engine shut down from the fault and the PCM is just signaling that it detected a reading out of bounds.

If a code for TPS came up, I'd definitely pursue that first. I'd want a scan tool capable of live data to see what the TPS reading is. TPS can cause performance and/or stalling issues. I'd check the wiring to it, and that the connector is well seated and free of corrosion.

If the TPS needs replaced, it may help to heat the bolts. See an example in this video:
