Just stopping in to say Hello! I just recently purchased a pre-owned 2004 Explorer XLS Sport with 63k miles as my "beater car." I'm almost embarassed to call it that, since it's in really great condition, Mineral Gray, with a Parchment interior, 4x4, no power seats, but a good selection of creature comforts for our annual trips from Delaware to the Outer Banks of North Carolina!
I'm certainly not a stranger to Ford vehicles, including the Explorer, as I owned a 2002 Explorer Sport Trac for five years, and I loved that truck! It was a leased vehicle, and we had to return it in 2007 when my wife won her 2007 Mustang V6 in a sweepstakes contest!
My 2003 Mustang Mach 1 has been my daily driver since I took delivery of it in December 2002. That all worked out okay, except for the constant cleaning required, up until last winter when I decided to turn it into a lethal street machine! After spending a small fortune on it, I realized, it was no longer suited for driving in inclement weather and I needed to find something else to drive in the rain and snow!
I picked up my Explorer from a local Ford dealer, where it had been the dealership's Service Managers personal vehicle for about $10k! Needless to say, it's been well maintained, and should provide me with years of good service. It needed new tires, so I just bought a set of Firestone Destination A/T in the stock size from Tire Rack, and they're sitting in my garage waiting for me to get them mounted this weekend.
Sorry for long winded post, but that's my story for right now.
Oh, here's a couple of pics of the "Beater."
