well this is the second MAC exhaust that they have sent me, and this is the second one that dont fit..so Im just gunna have someone make me some..I want really the loudest you can get..but not to the point where it sounds bad..I guess Im not gunna have the dual in muffler, I guess Ill just have to have them make a y-pipe, but I dont want it made like crappy, (you know just cut a hole in one pipe and weld another pipe to it to make a y) so I guess I will run the 3 inch in 3 inch out, should I worry about manderl bending, cause I like the free flow of manderl bent..but not alot of shops do it..so ya, I know its another exhaust post but oh well..

I dont see any question marks in your post, what are you actually asking?

Why did you buy a Mac exhaust anyway, they're not that popular on Explorers.

Just get a custom Magnaflow exhaust. You'll like the sound, and they have pretty much any size you'd want, including dual to single. And Mandrel bending once you get to that large of a pipe doesn't really matter.

well my question is..what kinda muffler should I get, amoungst other things..and I really dont want magnaflow..I had that on my ranger, and didnt like it at all....wasnt loud enough

Was your Ranger a V6 or V4? Either way, they will both be way quieter then a V8 with Magnaflows.

Magnaflows "loudness" depends on the size of the muffler you order.

Listen to a 4.6 or 5.0 Mustang running Magnaflows, very low deep idle, with a scream from hell when you gun it.

Your not going to get any better then 40 series Flowmasters or Magnaflows (and how many times have I told you this in other threads:confused: ). They both are louder and more aggressive then basically every other muffler while sounding awsome.

You want louder, go with the Flowmaster 1 chamber race mufflers and see how fast you can go deaf:p

Dynomax, Borla, Gibson ect ect are very quiet on V8's, except for the Dynomax race bullets (basically a glasspack making you sound loud but ricey) or the Borla XR1's which wouldn't sound good unless you went with true duals and a custom h or x pipe.

40 series Flows and Magna's hands down damnit!!!!:hammer:

yeah.... and what is the reason you dont want a pipe welded into another one? i dont really see the differnece it would make to have a Y welded in somewhere? other than cost more to instal and be more time consuming... no one is going to see the exhuast.....

its all about flow, if you just take a straight piece of pipe and cut a section out of it and weld another one to it, it wont flow at all really..causeing some screwed up exhaust tone, and performance..not what I want..I wonder if the y pipe that flowmaster sells will work??

after a certain point, more flow isnt going to do anything at all...... and you can modulate the tone with different resonators, or sized pipes.....

I don't want to knock you...because this could have been simply a typing mistake....

but when did they start making V4's? I thought all 4 bangers were inline 4 cylinders?

Most 4 cylinder motors are inline. Some are V, but the Ranger one is inline. Must have been a typo.

And you won't get much better sound than Magnaflow. You won't need a Ypipe either.

typo:confused: , I wrote that really fast late at night and wasn't paying attention.

WannaXP8 - I have a friend running a Magnaflow dual outlet muffler with 2.5" piping on their 5.0 Explorer. It sounds awsome, only a little quieter then a 40 series Flow (non-delta). It has a very low and deep idle that just purrs, and has a very unique tone to it when getting on the gas or accelerating, no resonation at all, and is very loud when floored. I'd say it's about even with a non-delta 40 series in loudness, the 2 chamber Flows without the delta's baffles are obviously going to be a little louder. If you get a single outlet go with a 3" pipe, duals go with a minimum of 2.5" piping, those sizes will make you louder and more aggressive then if you were to just weld in a muffler with the small/crappy stock piping with all crimps in it.

Talk to Section525 as he had a Magnaflow exhaust on his 5.0 Explorer before the whole body/chassis swap process. He loved the way it sounded.
