No sir. I installed the new suspension, fullwidths, linked/coiled rear, cut some more, etc :)
It's a diff. truck than before.

well dua! its in your hands is it not?
Like me you cant just let it sit there.....just you have been a bit more extreme in the last few years but dont think I'm not watching you guys! a certain BII has just been waiting for the sawzall

Thank u much for the link, That is exactly what i was thinking about. That was a well done conversion & i can only hope mine will come out half as nice, My project is a 91 EB that i got off ebay for $150.00, Run's well but only has reverse in the tranny.

I bought another Explorer earlier this year to fix up for my daughter who just got her license last week, I have enjoyed working on & driving her's that i decided to do a mild build up of one for myself.

Again Thanks for all the input & Help!!!

Rick

Top Chopped

Finally finished with cutting the top off, Can anyone who has done a conversion similar to this post pics of how the enclosed the rear?

Leaning toward constructing a flat new rear & using a sliding rear window from a Ranger.

Thanks, Rick

Someone did use the back of a ranger cab too. I'll see if I can find it and then you can pm him or something. Also, try to pm RussRubek and see if he can help you out with what you need.

Thanks for the link, I like the look of that with the slider!!!

Thanks, Rick

i did the ranger cab thing first and changed my mind and did this instead.

Update

Got a little more work done to the project, Found another Explorer with a rebuilt tranny to replace my bad one. Got a 2" body lift & some 31's mounted, How can i find out what gearing my axle's have?

Is it true that the EB model's have a better suspension that the regular Explorer? Still undecided on how to enclose the rear area, Still leaning toward the Ranger cab that Joe had used.

Joe, What didn't you like about it on the one u did? Do u have any close up pics of how it looked?

Thanks, Rick

Lookin good, I have a friend that wants to do the same thing you are doing.
Look on the driver door build ticket, or axle tag on the rear diff for the axle code.
EB explorers do not have a better suspension, the only difference might be quality level of shock absorber from the factory, but I dont think even that was different.

nothing is different about the suspension, XLT or EB are just trim packages

Not that i didnt really like it i just liked the soft top better. Also wanted it open for the summer when it was warm. I dont have any more pics on this computer. I'll have to try and find them on another. Just FYI its alot of work to make it look good and not a hack job.

Joe, Thanks for your quick responce.
I think you are right about the Ranger part being a lot of work to get it right, Been talking with a friend that work's at a sheet metal place about making me a rear for it.

I have a slider from a Ranger that i will try to use in it, The more i think about it this would be the best way to go. Just need to come up with a good pattern for him to use.

If u find more pics you could send them to my email or post them up for all too see, Again thanks for your help & suggetion's..

Rick
