Cost to Replace Upper Ball Joints

I spent under 280$ in parts on Rockauto.com (HIGH QUALITY MOOG parts at that, not chinese eBay parts) Upper control arms for both sides, lower balljoints, AND tie rod ends. I did ALL of them in under 3 hours with the BJ press rented from AutoZone...

I dont think you should use "high quality" and moog in the same sentence again

...and $1000 is a complete RIP OFF. I just paid $210 for both lowers (parts and labor) and he quoted me $340 for the uppers (new arms and all) + aligment.

Quick question regarding all front end parts what is the typical life span on a 2001 sport trac if there is one and how would you know if any of the front end parts need to be replaced thanks in advance.
