I am tempted to try this head unit out. With it being that cheap, I could Craigslist it, and pry make money

Aux input adapter is on eBay for about $8. Search JVC KS-U57.

Rebate form - http://www.kbia.org/hdradio/2008rebateform.pdf

A new form from hdradio was posted in the thread. Not sure why the kbia form doesnt require you to text, but here is the other link if you want to use it. Note that the mobile number is not a required field.
(update) I have confirmation that the original form is valid and you don't have to text in.

hmmmmmm. Sounds like one heck of a deal. Thinkin about doin the same thing

I've had the earlier model of the JVC HD head unit for almost 2 years now, I've been very impressed with the JVC KD-HD1.
edit: my mistake, KD-HDR1

First I gotta give a thank you for posting this info! Here's some more info so you guys can make an educated decision...

I almost pulled the trigger, but decided to call first. I called because I wanted the option of using a CD changer and AUX input. That's not an option with this unit. I've convinced myself I'm fine with that. The issue now is that with the installation kit and wiring harness, you're up to the total price of ~$130, and if you buy a unit for $129+ they give you the installation kit free. This gives the option of buying another unit listed on the rebate form, and actually upgrading the purchase. If you find one that's $129, you actually come out ahead on price and features.

The total will come out to ~$63 or so with the coupon and rebate, but that's still dirt cheap and it's over half off a decent HU.

UPDATE: It's a crap shoot finding anything else on the list from a good brand. The choices I see are the JVC in the link above or the KD-HDR30 for $159.99.

Nice! Been looking for something like this for my camper. Only confusing thing is, do I need to add the adapter in order to plug my iPod into it? Sounds like yes, for $40.

Where is the $50 rebate?

The adapters can be purchased on ebay like the OP said, just search for JVC KS-U57.

The $50 rebate can be found in the last two links of the original post.

I stopped reading too early.

anyone order one?

I don't know about the $20 off coupon, but the $50 rebate doesn't end until the end of the month, so I'm waiting until the next paycheck.
