08 Explorer - Transmission problem

When changing from park to reverse there is a delay for a couple of seconds then a loud bang just before it moves into reverse. Any thoughts?

Mine has been doing this for a year or so. I finally took it to a trans shop and they said it needs replacing. Everything I have read and researched says the same thing. I tried changing out the fluids which was a pain because you cant just drain it. I am just going to drive until it goes out, then replace. I do try and not use reverse as often as I can. I am hoping it extends the life of the current transmission... haha.

Did you try taking it to the dealer for a flash update? How about resetting the system by disconnecting the battery. May be worth a shot.

Thanks. I will give that a try. I was thinking about that...that maybe its computer/sensor related. I had that problem with a Durango years ago. Turned out the tranny sensor was bad. Will let you know how it goes.
