I purchased a 95 Ford Explorer recently. I have to start it from the solenoid, it will not turn over with the key. I replaced the solenoid but it did not correct the problem. The vehicle has a manual transmission a local mechanic suggested there could be an issue with the switch on the clutch pedel. I disconnected the plug from the switch and used a test light to check each terminal while I turned the key. None of the terminals illuminated the test light. The local auto parts guy suggested it could be an ignition switch in the steering column. I would like to identify the problem instead of wasting money by replacing parts at random. Anyone have any clues or suggestions what could be the cause, thank you.
