i updated again after todays work.

i've been asked countless times what the steps are for making a fiberglass box or door panel etc. all the steps are shown that i've completed thus far in my pictures of the headliner process. i'm a little miffed at why no one seems to be looking at my thread any more.

people still look at your thread. mostly people are looking for pictures when it comes to all this custom stuff

also only elete members can post in the elite registry. so all us non-elite memebers that look at the elite registry threads simply can't post in there. a draw back to putting your stuff in there. But then again some say everyone should just be elite. and the drawback is not being able to post. either way...

i think your stuff is nice. very creative with your installs and obviously a ton of $ into your equipment. I would have to say that the remote pods you are planning for behind your truck are a little iffy. I understand you are going for 5.1 sound or whatever but part of car audio is that it is in a car. once you open that up to installs with stuff outside the car you are kinda bending the 'rules' in my opinion. i mean when is it car audio and when is it a moving van that carries equipment that is setup outside. just my thoughts when you first started talking about it. i would rather see you work something into the rear hatch that could hang down or something. if you are up to the rear bumper under the hatch you could still get that "rear" sound but it is still part of the vehicle. maybe get into some actuators that would let them drop down once the tailgate is opened.

not knocking your ideas but it sounded like you wanted people talking about your stuff, so there ya go.

yeah, for sure. I agree about the pods. we sat and brainstormed many other ideas at numerous shows this summer and decided to go this route. The amount of design and fabrication that would have been needed to have them telescope far enough out of the tailgate was simply prohibitive. the best way to do it would have requred lots of welding and repainting the tailgate when i was done etc. It could have been done simply with some smaller speakers (but i really wanted the 5.25" component set)

I also sort of think that the whole rear sound stage is outside of the "rules". I know that the tv in the back is a "gimmick" type of situation but i'm ok with that. It certainly does its job of drawing in attention. So i agree with you on that, but did it anyways just because i wanted to do something to really draw attention into the vehicle in a sea of newer more expensive trucks at shows. Also, i couldn't have forced everyone to get up close to the speakers. with those pods they will be set like 20 feet away from the truck. i've found that at the most recent shows that we get 8 or 10 folding chairs set up and people pretty much fill them all day. i need the rear channels to accomadate the space for all of them. besides, don't i get a little leniency for having 19 speakers in the front sound stage with 5.1 surround all installed in the truck?

thanks for the feedback, and i agree with where your coming from (have had the same thoughts myself)

well, that piece is about done.

also made one for above the front seats with some 6.4" lcds

check out the new pictures
