I just wanted to know if you guyz heard or have had problems with the Destinations. In the next week or two i'll be purchaseing a set, 30/9.5/15s and i just wanted to make sure no one had any major problems or recomendations for tires...i'm up for any info.. Thanks in advanced...

An the exploder firestone thing doesn't even concern me, we never had trouble with our firestone tires, we loved our firestone tires, they put the goodyear because of the recall and i will never go back to goodyear. I think if firestones can handle a 2000 silverado with 8,000lbs behind them then i think the tires can handle my 4 door explorer. Thanks for your help...

the main problem with the firestones on the explorers was that ford recommended that they be run at 28psi in the front.... this low pressure which was intended to make the ride softer makes more heat at highway speeds.... and this coupled with some manufacturing defects caused them to separate..... i had a set that started to separate but i caught it before it got too bad.... id say its a shame to castrate all of firestones lineup because of one bad tire line although Im a good year man myself....

i heard they are descent tires. my friends father uses them on his z71 they still hav some tread life left. I dont think i would go with them just b/c of the whole thing with them separating.

The new one manages to keep the rubber side down. Its ashame that people still believe that they're going to rollover just because the have Firestones. I find it disgusting.

Looks like those got alot of tread on 'em! I say go for the M/Ts. They have a 1/2 inch of tread on 'em, they'd last a while ;)

i hear that the MT's are great the and the LE is a good Highway tire,

they have just as good of a line of tires as Bridgestone does (i know same company)

but bridgestone has lots of good stuff out

NO max traction, those are way to agressive for my taste, i like the Destinations A/T's better.....i don't need that much hummmmm..................down the road...lol....alright thanks for the advice and i'll check out bridgestone some more...

Would you rather they believe that they are going to roll over because they are driving an Explorer?

One thing caused all the rollovers, either the Explorer or the Firestones.......................one of them was done away with, the other still remains......................the rollovers stopped. Guess which is which?

;)

Technically they're still around. I think both are to blame. But as you said, the roll overs stopped, and I guess thats all thats important.

not just two problems to blame, many more then just explorers or tires, people that do not no how to drive when a blow out happens, lack of knowledge can be deadly.

So true but most blowouts cannot be controlled at 60-80 MPH.

i think it was all driver-based myself,
If you know how to handle a blow-out you can usually keep the vehicle under control no matter what vehicle it is if you don't freak like most people do, i know i've almost lost my truck a few times on ice when i freaked out a little bit, lost control and was countersteering and sliding all over the road, when i finally realized that i should put it in neutral and saved myself a lot of trouble i had slowed down enough to regain control, or this other time when i had ran my truck off of a t-turn because it was icy couldn't stop, i was pumping the brakes and downshifting and ran straight off into the ditch :D i don't know what i would have done if i would have swerved :O

My dad drives those big tour coaches and he had a blowout on one of the front tires while he was going 65-70mph on the interstate, he said you basically hold onto the steering wheel for dear life until you slow down enough and are able to pull it over to the side of the road safely :D

Firestone Tire + Ford Explorer = Accident

I say get a full body roll cage to go along with them.
Good Luck!

That is why we have a bad rep. People like you. And basically stereotypes are whats causing this whole ordeal. :thumbdwn:

Bad batch of tires+Uneducated soccer moms=accident!!

Sorry you cant take a joke

was that a joke?

Yeah it was a joke. Sorry I cant type in my sarcastic tone of voice in here. It seems like everyone needs to loosen up a little and not have such a chip on yalls shoulders. :fire:

I think its people like yall with a bad attitude that gives Explorers a bad wrap. So just take it easy, tires shouldnt make you so upset.

Sorry that you can't use the library of smilies we have. Such as the ;) or the :p Those would've helped greatly in your post.

lol every post its like people are gettin all pissed off over something. this guy " :fire: " has been gettin used waaaaaay too much.

but back on topic.
Id reccommend the Continental Sportiva A/T .. if they made them in 35's id be all over them. They look like the same tread on a BFG A/T excet they're a little more aggressive/ more pronounced towards the sidewall/ a better compound (lamens terms.. the BFG's are "soft")

If they're too aggressive for you- the Bridgestone Dueler Revos are probably the next best tires.

aaannnd if they're still too aggressive- the Bridgestone Duelers (not revos) are great tires (they're what i had as 32's you can check out my photo gal for pics) . They got me through pretty much anything i threw at them.

I also agree, I should have used the smilies. I think I am a little hypocritical of myself for getting so riled up because of this post. So I apologize for what was said and if I offended anyone.

What I was typing I thought was a joke, however upon reading it again, I can see how it could come across as not such a good thing.

From now on I'll make sure to clarify what I mean. The last thing I want to do is make some people mad on here cause I rely on yall so much. Thanks for everything and once again I'm sorry. :)
