2002 Explorer Sport
I have a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport and am looking to install a video monitor somewhere in my interior. I'm not sure whether I want a large drop down monitor from the ceiling in the back or some smaller monitors in the seats or the center console. Does anyone have any ideas on what would look good and what stuff I should look at getting?

Matt - Your SUV is awesome. I need to know how you installed those PIAAs and what series fog lamps you replaced the stock lamps with.

i dont have headrests like matt so i plan on putting two sun visor 7" monitors in and 1-10" flip down in just behind the dome light in the backseat.

On a truck that's small like a Sport, I think that in-headrest screens would look best. A big drop down would take up a lot of interior space on the roof, and look out of place. Placement would be rather odd too, since (at least on mine) there's lights in the most logical spot to stick the screen.

i would highly recommend not doing the sunvisors in an explorere. use the money to buy a nice dvd/cd 7" fold out screen and a drop down for the back. the sunvisors are not worth the trouble because they aren't nearly as viewable.

btw- matt is your sport an 01+ or is it an 01?

I was going to do a ceiling screen, something like 10". However, I have a Moonroof that the glass tucks inside so there was no room.

Expo5.0

how are sunvisors not visible when they are right in front of the passenger and drivers face? and the 10" monitor going in the back is for the back seat people, or whoever is driving behind me, ha ha. and i have heard too much bad stuff about those flip out 7" screens that the motors go out or eventually the touch screen features become weak and are not as sensitive any more. i also have a wholesaler who is selling me the stuff cheap.....2-7" tft, lcd screens for 250 dollars and a 10" flip down for 275. i am installing it myself so in the long run i will be saving alot more than to just buy a 7" flip out screen Expo.50. and also i dont have head rests like matt's does. i have a one piece seat so i cannot put them in mine. or it would not look good if i did.

I think Sunvisors look great. I was going to do a set in mine. However, I don't really go to shows anymore and I have the front screen so I don't need them.

Do whatever you want to do. It is your truck.

the in-dash location is a lot more natural for you to view with your peripheral vision while keeping your eyes on the road.

here some pics of my install.....

i have a 15'' drop down. It fits perfectly in a 4 door.

I ended up buying 2-6.5 inch monitors for the visors and a 10" flip down for the rear seats to view. And Expo....it has built in lights for the dome light so when you open the doors and stuff it still lights up because the factory light is removed now.
