I need to know if the ranger and explorer front axle have the same yolk and if not then i need one form an explorer cheap and a front driveshaft too.

If the Ranger has the D35, then it will be the same.

how can u tell iof its the d35? its an 89 so dont know if that will help

I'm not sure exactly what axles came with the rangers but I somehow have a vague memory of them coming with Dana 28s .. or was it Dana 30s.. anyways, you can tell which one you have by the cover's bolt pattern:

Dana 25,27,30

Dana 28

Dana 35

Supposedly, they also have the model number at one of the supporting tabs near the tube:

dana 28= 12bolts dana 35 = 10 bolts that hold the diff in. There is also a rare 28/35 hybred as well. 89 usually has a dana 28. The 28 and the 35 use the same yoke for u joint size. I am not sure if the splines on the pinion are the same or not though.
