I have a 1994 Ford Ranger 4X4 XLT, 4.0L V6 and was wondering if someone can answer a general question about the front end suspension? I know I need lower ball joints and shocks (Truck has 213,000 MIles) and only one new set of shocks and no new ball joints. My question is this, if you want to improve the ride and handling what all should you replace? Sway bar bushings, tie-rod ends, etc.? What else?

Thanks

Not to be a smart-a$$, but replace all the bushings.

Upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends, steering rods, sway bar and end link bushings, beam pivot bushings and radius arm bushings.

To really tighten the suspension up, replace with urethane instead of the stock rubber. (In some cases, the urethane is less expensive, too!)

Thanks

I do not have a lot of knowledge about suspensions. I can change belts, hoses, oil, rotate tires, etc. I have a friend who is doing the work for me and needed to know what to tell him to change.

...This thread might help you get a little more familiar with your front end...:D
