I'm putting a 3" body lift on this Saturday. I was wondering if anybody had any tips on anything to do or not do do. I never done anything but Susp lift. The body lift don't look that hard but I would like help on do's and don'ts. Should I cut the fan shroud or put and electric fan. I want it to stay cool out in the woods. My explorer is and auto so I don't think I will run into troubles but that is why I was asking.

Thanks Chris

when i did mine i just took the fan shroud off totally and it runs cold trust me dont know y or how but it does and my automatic shifter was a lil hard to move like streched out but besides that it was all good and have fun getting to all the body mount bolt those were the pain in the ass

why would you cut the fan shroud ? and clean all the parts and use wd40 on it all also days before you start taking it apart. and the bumpers are a p.i.t.a.

What was wrong with the shifter? The auto should be just a cable. Wouldn't it move easy?

why wouldnt you it is either you cut it or you move it down. you must do one or the other, both have the same end result

Start lubing the body mounts now. As for my shroud I didnt have to take it off. Plan on some of you body mount bolts being tough to get out. Also the radiator is a tight squeeze. I had no shifter, brake or any other cable issues. Mine all had plenty of slack in them to get the job done.
Good luck
and post some pics.

cuting it would not have the same result ! it would not be as affective to have half of it cut off ! :thumbdwn: lol... just move it down, then it will work like it was intended. ...

Thanks for everything. I will post up pictures Monday. (hopefully if my wifes lets me bring the camara to work)

yo man, when i did mine I found that my "cab mount bushings" were shot. You should deff take a look at em while the body is up.

You can get em online, i just googled em.

Good Luck man!

I have a question? I put the body lift on this weekend everything went ok. My steering wheel has some bind in it. I put the spacer on it and it still has it maybe even worse than before any help? What did ya'll do? anything? Is there just something wrong with my steering column? It worked fine before.

Chris

Thanks for all ya'lls help. Heres a pic of my explorer with the 2 inch lift with the 3 inch body lift.

Chris
P.S. if anybody cares my buggy is in the back ground.

is yoru 2 insuspension lift with stock springs n coils??
n how yuo liek them warns?

Seems when you talk to people of diff types of 4bys. they all recommend 2" that way you don't have the steering rad. and shifter problems because of a 1" Differance .. I don't know what tires you want to run or which gen X you have. but If it is a first Gen I would add a 4" suspension Lift. this will give you a total of 6 inches . that should be plenty..

Yes my 2" susp lift is just Ebay poly spacers with Auto Zone Shackles in the rear. Still has the factory ride quality. I'm going with a 4" susp lift later. I want a total of 6 inchs but with the BL I'm going to end up with 7. So thats close.

I love my warns. I went through 2 sets of auto hubs in about 3 months. I only drive it from my house to the woods and play. I went with the warns and so far they are holding up good. I won't go back. Once you go WARN you won't go back. LOL

I lock em as soon as I get to the woods and when I need 4wd I just push the button and I use them like auto hubs.

Chris

what size tires are those? and thats 2 in with a 3 in body lift right?
