I'm thinking of putting bigger wheels and tires on my 93 Explorer. Not too big, 30" tires would be perfect for me. Does anyone have pics of 30" tires on this vehicle? Also, what suspension upgrade will I need if any? John :us:

That size does look good on both vehicles. I have stock alloys. Can I use those for awhile with the 30" tires until I get better wheels? No suspension mods required either? That's good. Thanks

Hey DeRocha, where did you get your grill guard. I've got a pair of KC's for one but I don't have one. That looks really good.

Its a Grizzly Oval grill guard.. I picked it up 12yrs ago and don't know if they are still around or being made.

As mentioned by FireZapper the above tire will fit on the stock rims just fine.. No mods needed to run these tires..

My stock size tires (below) look small compaired to the 30'' tires that it will have. I also like that grill guard. Little bit at a time.

.....225-70-15 's are what's on it now.

On another Explorer site someone said that I could even put 31" tires on the stock rims. :us:

You can mount Large diameter 35"+ tires on a stock rim. (provided its not too wide).. Of course this will never fit in your front end without mods..

The Question often asked is: "how big of a tire can I fit on a stock rim and not have any rubbing issues". Generally speaking you can fit 30x10.5x15 on your explorer on the stock rims with no issues.. Many people can fit 31" tires on stock rims, but since each vehicle is different (spring sag, old body mounts, shocks etc) that it becomes more difficult to nail down.

That looks really good. I like the Billet grill. It's been a long time since I was in Washington State. I'm originally from New York State but I have been living in NC for the past 12 years. The people are great here, but the lanscape is really boring (Piedmont - too flat. Can't see over the trees). Soon as I get my tranny in, I'm heading towards the Mts. (Asheville area).
