I have a few questions as to modifications I am hoping to do.

I plan on replacing the headlights as well as tail lights, I have found covers but do not know how to take the covers off of the stock ¿housing?.

I would like to get 33" tires on so would like to do a 3" lift. I would go the cheaper route with just a body lift but how much more noticeable would the top heaviness of the car feel and be. Would there be less of a difference if i do a suspension lift?

Lastly will the '91-'94 explorer grills fit? How difficult would it be to replace the grill?

Sorry I can't answer your other questions but regarding the grill I am pretty sure that an Explorer grill will fit. It is pretty easy to remove. You just remove the plastic shroud on top of the grill and headlights. Then there is just 2 bolts holding the top of the grill on and two clips holding the bottom on. One word of advice though, be very careful removing and installing the grill as I found that the plastic is very brittle from age.

thanks for the help

You also might want to hit up R.J. on here. He has done the explorer grille and headlights on a Navajo. Might be able to tell you whats involved in it.

kinda on topic, ive been hitting up the local yards hoping to find a navajo. i want to make my sploder a 4 door navajo bad!

wouldn't that just be a few part changes that say mazda? I know my steering wheel, tailgate (the emblem thing), and grill. If you want my old grill when if i swap it out ill ship it to you if you pay for the shipping.

I can't remember if my seats said mazda because i swapped them out for a pair of X limited's electric seats. Maybe the head unit says mazda if you want that i'm replacing it in the near future.

I actually went snooping around my engine today and half the parts say ford.

EDIT: cyber who is R.J.?

I didnt notice a difference when I installed my 3in body lift. 33s might rub a good bit with just a 3in body lift. If they do you can always add a 2in spacer or f150 coil seats and shackles and probably still stay within budget.

grill, headlights, steering wheel, rims, and taillights. thats about all that makes a navajo a navajo. and the fact there were no 4 doors, just 2.

i allready own 5 other mazda's though, and am not a big fan of ford. so i want to swap it to fit with the rest of my car's. lol

j3wbagell, got your pm and figured just to reply in your thread.

im just trying to figure out what exactly your doing. you want to change the whole grill and light assembly from a navajo to an explorer? or are you just trying to replace a few parts on the navajo grill and lights?

i changed my navajo front to an explorer front just because i wanted the blinker lights up higher and parts are easier to find.

here's my car with the original front

and here's a pic after i changed to the explorer lights and billet grill

is this what your looking to do? (i'd assume with a stock explorer grill though)

yah the blinkers are in the bumper.

Thanks for the reply R.J., I was actually wanting to do EXACTLY what you did replacing the front end with that of an explorers. Not so much because of the blinkers but for more the looks of it.

As long as there is no sheet metal cutting it is what i would hope to do.

thanks again

EDIT: I was looking for a billet grill for a navajo specifically but was not able to find one, leading to my question in the original post. After i had looked and some explorer pictures i noticed there were some slight differences in the front end. Which led me to want to replace everything.

it's pretty simple swap. all the light bulbs and such are the same and everything bolts in. make sure you get the light assembly, the grill, the bottum trim peice, and make sure you have all the brackets holding the lights and grill the front wall peice. when i did mine i didn't know there was a difference between the mounting brackets and had to run to the junk yard the next day pick some up. there's a lot of little screws and bolts so i can't do a ste-by-step for you, but i just started taking every screw out the was aroung the lights and grill. you'll find out whats holding it in and what you need to take out when you start doing it. i can say that i think you only need a phillips screw driver and a 8mm socket.

i don't really have anymore pics of my car with the grill and lights before it was lifted
