Will this mirror fit an 02?

Visibility is better IMO

Donner, is the visibility any better? Or does it stay the same? I was suprised with my Explorer's side views, I thought they were on the small side.. Also, if my current lights don't have puddle lights and heat, is my car equipped for it? Or if I got mirrors with the feature would I need to do some of my own wiring?

Wider field of vision, and people liked the 4th gen mirror... yes, I freakishly drove around with one of each mirror asking people what they thought :D

Done. Both sides installed... I'll take a pic and edit this post in a bit. ^^Heated mirrors in Phoenix?? :)

I am not interested in heated mirrors here in texas, but I am interested in the puddle lights. My 2002 just has the plain jane mirrors, no puddle lights. Would you suppose that the pigtales on a 2002 without puddle lights from the factory would be wired for the puddle lights going to the mirror?

Do you suppose that if I bought mirrors with puddle lights they wold plug right up and the lights would work like they should?

Thanks.

Donner I have the blind spot mirrors on my Ex. The newer mirrors are larger than your factory ones but i suggest you get new blind spot mirrors.
Here is what i have http://www.cipausa.com/ They even make one for the Explorer. I have the ones they sell for a chevy and i stuck it directly on the mirror. Looks good because they are square and the mirror is square.

Puddle light testing...

I'd ask a parts department that one because puddle lights are controlled by the vehicle. So you might well be set up for it...

I use the little bitty ones that stick on the mirror because I knock any attachments off - note about 7 or so broken cb antennas

These are the best fit angles I could get... note the bird poop already :)

Definately like that look better! Thanks for the reply about the electrical connection.

Got any pictures of the whole truck with the new mirrors?

Tough angles...

These are tough angles for me to get... I can't use the camera like way back when, so the pics suffer... this pic is hideous, so i canned it.

Freeway test! Be back...

Looks good. If my puddle lights don't work. I will wire them up. I don't think it will be a problem. Plus I will convert them to LED.

So how about them signal arrows. Donner, what do you think is the best way to add them?

:) You probably should read up on Aldive's method. My arrows will be in crayon :) Aldive has a write up on how to do it the right way.

I am looking for budget mods. I thought the arrows he added were expensive? Let me look.

I might use some LEDS in the housing. maybe 4 facing forward and for on outer edge so adjacent cars can see them. I don't care if its in arrow configurations, just seen.

Yep that mod was over $200...not cheap for signal mirrors. For $200+ I can buy something more useful than red arrows for my mirrors. I do have the ones that stick on the oustide. They are pretty small leds ones. I will experiment on my old mirrors attaching them from behind the glass and scraping away the right amount of material so they can shine through. It it works out then I will do the new mirrors.

Could you look for mirrors that already have the arrow?

I am sure it won't be cheap to buy it already setup.

worse comes to worse then its ULTRA Bright red leds out from just under the space of the mirror and the housing or my mod and mount my arrows behind the glass.

Here they are

Nooooooo! Don't do it! Move slowly away from the idea... let's look for another method.

LOL...

there are Very bright LEDs in this thing.

Well lets see what can be done, except spending for for mirrors than the whole assembly.

(I said this in another post) Those arrows will get you more laughs than you can imagine... to see such a nice vehicle, with plastic arrows on the mirrors just negates all of your efforts... (I gotta split, but I'll look for them too or a kit)

No They were going behind the mirror and the glass scraped so they shine through....lol I would NOT put them on the glass...lol

Wow, I cannot imagine scraping the back side of the mirror without it looking crappy. You must have expert mirror-back-scratching skills to suggest something like this. I am definitely interested in learning how this can be done to make the job look factory.

-I do agree, slapping those arrows on-top of the mirrors would make any truck look like a clown's truck.

Would not put them on front.....LOL come on guys...lol

I read a thread someplace a long time ago where the back of the mirror was scraped. If you look at factory style mirrors they are clear where the LEDs shine through. I don't imagine it to be that hard. I will tape off the area I don't want damaged. maybe I will take a wooden dowel and put some very fine sandpaper on the end and then take off the mirror coating that way. The dowel will make nice even circles.

I will experiment with my old mirrors.
