I need tow hooks on front and rear. I have screwed both bumpers up from pulling people out or getting my self pulled out. Mainly the latter.

I have seen these type of tow hooks done on the front, but can't find a page that shows how to install. ie, which holes in the frame.

Props to whomever's rigs these are. Nice. The_Commodore is the red one on the bottom.

But what do you guys/people do for the rear?

Just buy a set and drill some holes for the bolts ;)

(and stop hitting the submit button on your browser, this is the third thread of the exact same copy -- patience grasshopper)

So what's the preferred strength for these things? 10k lbs? or more.

Can I see some pics of hooks in the rear.

Yeah 10k pounds sounds good -- bolt it up!

:snort:

I think he's got the bug.

once it clamps on it doesn't let go.

Yea there really easy to install. I just installed on on the rear of mine after bending the body lift bumper bracket and frame(dont use a chain to pull somebody out). If you can get the one like the first picture with the little piece that holds the strap on the hook. It really comes in handy.

When my sister comes back with her camera I'll try and get some pics.

Like ****roaches -- they check in, but they dont check out!

Dude the ****roaches that haunt my house are smart. They run away but when you see them they stop, and wait for you to kill them and they will play dead too. Found a.....gonna sound sick, but fun way to kill them. If you feed them elmers glue, they will eat till they pop!:eek: Gross, but entertaining. They double in size man.

Pics are ALWAYS welcome. Seems like that little piece of aluminum would bend, bend some more, and them snap off? No?
I ordered these and am wanting to put one on front and one on rear. Might just do both on front.

All animals belong to God (Psalm 24:1).

Awww I'm tellllinnnn.. :p:

Its actually a really stout strip of metal. I can barely bend it enough to put a tow strap in there.

Yea I hate ****roaches, After three years and two houses we finally were able to get rid of them.

Ecclesiastes 3:2&3
:D

Good to know you can't bend that metal.

Any pictures?
I am looking for pictures of where you guys have mounted them? I don't wanna drill my frame!:thumbdwn: If at all possible.

Oh sorry been tied up with work and this is the first week of school. I drilled holes in the bottom of my frame to mount mine(I only installed the on the rear because I have shackles on the front), Im not sure but you might be able to bolt it using the same holes the bumper bolts to but I doubt it. I'll try and get some pics

Shackles? Like this?

There are weird shaped triangular holes that look like I might be able to use. When I got stuck last night(Stupidity hits again + street tires) I was able to hook the winch up to one of those holes. Worked well. I didn't have 4x4 when I first got stuck, then it worked later for some ODD reason.

Anyways thanks.

I am gonna, just for kicks and giggles, go dry fit them on my frame to see it works. If so, I am going to do a right up with pictures. Cause I'm sure there are others asking the same question.

*edit* Nope. Not without drilling. It won't work. Also I might have to cut the bumper some if I want them to stick out a little. Oh well.

Yea thats what I was thinking. Why dont you want to drill your frame? Theres no problems in doing so and I also have a body lift on mine so the frame is below the rear bumper so I put mine flush with the end of the frame.
Also yes thats the shackles I have and the bumper I have to put them on. I have a winch on it now as well.

I just figured it might compromise the integrity of the frame... No?:thumbdwn:

No the frame will be fine. Thats how the bumper is mounted to the frame and also thats how trailer hitches are mounted as well. So it should be fine
