I have a 2006 XLT 4x4 that I want to change rims and tires on. This is my first truck and as such I have a few newbie questions.

I want a larger rim and also an overall higher ride height without lifting. I see 31's are the largest that will fit without a lift so I was considering a 20 inch rim with 275/50 R20 tires which works out to 30.9 height, 10.8 width. Is this going to cause rubbing? What about the speedo and power loss? Is there anything else I should be aware of like pre-mature wheel bearing wear or transmission issues?

*EDIT*

I guess I should add, the reason for doing this is more aggressive looks and some mild off-road use. Dont plan on going far off trail just getting it into 4 wheel once in a while. I originally thought I wanted to *bling bling* on some 22's or 24's but after getting out camping/hiking last week I realised if I was on huge rims and lo pro's it would easily get destroyed. So I am looking to try to make it look like all the trucks I see rolling around with 35's and 20's, it looks sick and super aggressive.

If your truck is like my 06 it has the tps tire pressure sensors on the wheels letting you know when a tire drops in pressure or if you have a flat and the spare is on you have this orange light that stays on in your dash. You take off the stock wheels from my understanding the light will always stay on. I have asked the same question kind of annoying but if you find a way around it let me know

Yea I know about the TPMS. You can get new sensors put into your new rims and get them set to your truck. It may be pricey but that is a feature I plan to keep.

If you get the 275/50/20 to work please let evrybody know. I am running 265/65/18 which is roughly a 31" tire and it clears no problem. My Xcal2 programmer took care of the speedo issue and James Henson took care of the power loss issue.

I have no clue what will work exactly, I thought the tire size calculator I used said that was 31 inches. If the 265/65R18 works I may just go with that. Thanks for the info.

This is false. I got new rims and tires on mine, and they used my factory sensors and placed them on hose clamps that clamped around my tires. There is no light on my dash and I have aftermarket 22's.. If there are not installed correctly, then yes, the light will stay on, but if they are installed and are on the clamps that go inside the tire, then the light will stay off.

I have 275/45 R20 on my

I can put some up day after tomorrow. We are on vacation and the X is sitting in our garage 1300 miles away. Ended up putting 20's with a 275/45R20 Falken on it.

Sam- How does the flowmaster sound compared to stock? I want to change the exhaust but I dont want drastic.

I have the MAGNAFLOW stainless...I like the sound(!Even before I got the SCT xal 3!)
& I know I can rely on it with other mods

But I hear FLOWMASTER may have a deeper sound...& it may be cheaper than MAG

Do you have the V8 or V6? If you have the V6, do you think you could post a sound clip or video clip onto youtube so that we can hear what it sounds like. I am really curious.. Thanks
