Behing the coolant resivor there is a little black box with two sections and caps on my 94 Limited. It appears to just push air threw it but I have no clue. I recently did Block work and pulled the tubing lose. So I need to know where to reconnect the tubing. Help?

evap canister.... you need this . the factory location for the evap solinoid and all of it's hook ups was under the fuel rail .it vents spent or unused gas fumes back to the gas tank and keeps proper pressure in the tank ....if not there then it will vent fumes back into the cabin of the explorer .

the evap solinoid has a " T " tubeing connector on it plus a electrical harness hookup .you may be able to get to it but i dought it ....when they put it under there you can really see it from standing outside the truck so they buried it pretty good under everything .

K... Um... so it being broken and unhooked could potentially lead to a ruff running of the engine?

hard to say but seeing that it's connected to the intake system it could cause a vac leak ( yes bad running engine) depending on where the hose you ripped out was at ...." like if it was the end that was connected to the " output" side of the solinoid " then if so you may not have a vac leak but untill that solinoid opens... i would think at that point you would .

...this is what the solinoid looks like

so thats what it is. i need to fix mine too. i get the gas smell in my cabin and traced the smell to that area.

Yeah I got it figured out earlier when I ran a self test and it pulled up the Purge canister Circuit failure. Since I know that it was the only thing unplugged I got it pretty quick. Autozone and shuck were a two day out kinda deal So I pulled one out of a 94 ranger XLT and threw it in mine.!
:D
