two threads, same question;)

i'd pick the boss 336's(#6).

I have the boss 306's in 20x8.5 with 275/45/20 tires on it. The backspacing is more or less 5 3/4's on an inch if i remember.

Here's a side shot of mine with the 20's, i am going to lower it a bit this summer.

sick!!!

I think I have decided that I would purchase a set of black 7 spoke saleen wheels. I will be getting the 10" wide set. I have decided to go with 10" wide, I want to see what is it like with that wide wheels and lowered. I expect the handling to be good.

Not sure if everyone would agree with my decision, but I think it would look sporty with those wheels and most importantly, it is what I want lol.

Should be purchasing them by end of week, if not then early next week.

I am aware that it might rub due to wheels being 10" wide, but I am going to go ahead mount them and see from there, I might get lucky, not too sure though. If it rubs then I will get a set of spacers then. I will be sure to buy some quality eibach set that sells for 140 a pair.

Still undecided between 265/50 and 275/45 tires.

Hey guys,

I am going have to buy a new set of wheels and tires pretty soon so I want have a lot of problem narrowing down to one set of wheels lol. I cant just decide which one would I like the best.

Since I cant decide so I decided to make this poll so hopefully you guys would be able to give me a few pointers and your opinions to help me decide in the end.

Here are my options (click on links to see some more pictures if you want)

1. Saleen Extreme

2.Black cobra R

3. ADR wheels

4. Boss (doubtful)

5. ADR (in gunmetal color)

6. Boss

I think I like #1 Saleen Extremes, #2 Cobra R, and #6 Boss the most as of now.

Here is a picture of my explorer with 22s for your reference. I will be lowering the explorer this spring so try to envision my explorer being lowered 2 inches.

If you have a completely different set of wheels in mind, let me know! I am open to other ideas.

Here is a few things going through my mind right now:
1. Do I want another set of black wheels? should I get different color?
2. If it is going to be black, will it look too similar?
3. Do I want rivets on the wheels? My 22s got rivets on it. (it might become too similar?)
4. Do I want wheels with deep dish or more of stock-inspired

dude that explo is clean, i havent seen a explo looking that good on 22s, i always tought they needid 24s to look good (my opinion)

Thanks. But I would not go bigger than 22s on an explorer unless you are a baller who likes a lot of bling.

IMO 24s or bigger looks just ridiculous on rubber band tires which should not even exist for SUVs

thanks for your compliment again :)

Gonz....your explorer looks amazing! You really know how to do it up :D haha

we were snowed in all week this past week, so the check from university didnt arrive yet (all of the faculty workers were snowed in as well ) so the check process had been delayed until this week hopefully. if not then next week.

And.... this might not come as a surprise(I change my mind a lot) : I dont think I will be getting the 7 spoke black saleens after all. I just realized that I should not worry about the color too much since I can always get them painted, but of course still get something that would flow with my x well. So I think I should focus on the design some more.

Since I should be thinking about design some more: I ALWAYS have loved 5 spoke wheels so I think I need to be true to my heart and get a 5 spoke set! so I am considering my original idea of those silver saleen extremes or possibly chrome since they look so good in chrome imo. it depends on the price though. I also found an extreme wheel in alloy black from ebay but auction has ended (I am working on contacting the seller).

The black alloy extremes I found on Ebay (Click Me)

I am also partial to this set up, but it is unlikely since it is not 5 spoke like I wanted (and my 22s are 7 spoke as well). I still like the look of this wheel a lot. :

will 24 fit with a loweing kit

will 24 work on lowerd 05 explorer

I doubt 24 will clear. Maybe someone else can chime in on this.

I wouldn't go with 24s to begin with tho. ha

thanks a lot so 22 will work with no rubbing

I don't know if flickr will have the IMG Code link when you are signed in like photobucket does. If so, just copy that link and click on the yellow box with the mountains and sun in the background and then you will paste and submit the link.

If you don't have the IMG Code, then right click on the picture you want and select properties. You willl see the Adress(URL) link. Copy that link and then select the yellow box witht he mountains and sun in the background, paste and submit. This also works for any image from google, cardomain, etc. ;)

does any body now where i can find a shorter sturt for my 05 ex 4x4
so when i lower it i have no issues with the factory parts

there is no lowering struts made for 3rd gens. that kinda sucks but I can live with what I have though.

Those wheels would be sick on a black expo.

What width do you think these rims are? The 8.5" or the 10"? I am debating on if I should put the 8.5" all the way around or the 10". I found a picture after searching forever on cardomain of the look I want for with my 05 Blue/Grey (color of the wheel) XLT Sport. I think it would look pretty sweet with the color of the wheels matching the grey trim around the truck. Let me know what you think!!
