It took me a bit but i finally took some pics of my shift knob.

a 25mm shell with a plastic tip, surrounded by 5, 20mm shells linked together with plastic tips.

I had to grind the 25mm shell down about an inch because its made of steel

this is my first of two designs, the second will have metal tips and i am working on grinding a hole through the bottom of the 25mm shell. ( not working on live ammo for those who are concerned. )

x2 on the unique. Is it pretty comfortable when you shift?

Looks nice, but I wouldn't use a steel tip. At least for the top one. In an accident, if people/body parts bounced around you could easily get impaled.

Looks almost like an old space rocket

Make sure you wear that seatbelt now...hate to end up on that haha

Its actually not that bad,
i used rubber stoppers on the inside, so the shift rod is way up in there, it looks bigger than it actually is because i have the smaller bullets hanging on the shift boot.
i will admit that it took some getting used to when it started getting colder because of where the heater knobs are. but its real sturdy and it gives me more leverage when i shift. my clutch and shift is real stiff.

i am not too fond of the pointy tip and the new one i am making has a rounded tip. its high enough to actually grab it instead of resting your hand on the top of a traditional shifter.

i have been working with bombs, missiles and bullets for the navy for a long time now and its sort of become a part of me. the shifter reflects that i guess. my wife hates it and keeps her out of it :)

taking a longer look at the second picture i can see why i should be more concerned about being impaled in an accident.
what i have decided to do is get a shorter shift boot and shove that bullet deeper onto the rod or cut the rod down. i want to drop it down at least to where a conventional shift knob would sit. (2 to 4 inches)
better safe than sorry ill make it work. thanks to everyone who brought it up. when i get it all put back together i will post new pictures.

Yeah, hate to end up on 1000 Ways To Die lol

haha yeah, looks sweet though!

Definitely looks bad ass, but like others have said, I'd worry about being impaled. Even a rounded "pointy" tip can pop through you.

I have a grenade shift nob at my disposal. I used to have it on another truck's 4wd shifter, and now I want it in my Ranger, but I can't pull the 4wd nob off, and it's too uncomfortable for the regular shifter - feels like my hand could slip off of it in a hurried shift.

I can't pull the 4wd nob off

Have you tried a heat gun? I used the wife’s hair dryer for mine and it worked okay on high. I also made a wood tool to slip under the shift ball and that’s what I hit with the hammer. A few hits and it popped right off.

Dano Yours is kool looking but as others said I sure would not want to get the point from it.
Do like the look I must say but even lower me would wonder about getting the point if ya know what I mean.

You could take it farther and make door pulls like it or even small knobs. Turn it into an ammo dump kind of look then give it a military paint job. Make some off road lights out of bigger shells and on and on and on LOL. But no really do like how it looks

Why not take the plastic tip off and flip the shell around and have the bottom point up so it's flat nothing to worry about getting impaled with then and I think it would be more comfortable to grab.

you are laughing... but i am actually taking all this into consideration..

well I for one was not laughing at you but with you as belive it or not I think its kool and the paint job is kind of what I have in mind for my own 93 just with a few none mil things to it .

i apologize, i didn't take any offense to anything. and i didn't mean to offend you. just being sarcastic.
i plan on painting on doing a paint job on it, but it will be deep red with some stencils ghosted in. i have a long ammo can from work that's pretty much the same size as the center console. the little cushion arm rest is broken on mine. i don't know how to explain what i want to do with it but i plan on sectioning out the ammo can and having two separate lids on it, and cover the top with a cushion so it would be comfortable.
i have a bunch of crazy things that the military thew away that i want to put into my truck for no other reason than to see if i can. my Navajo has become a stepping stone for me to learn on the basics of fixing cars and trucks.
in my quest to figure out how everything works and what can be done to tweak and customize things i will probably replace a bunch of other things just so i can learn how to do it.
all i can hope for that it will look cool in the end.
