I have a 92 2door explorer and i was wondering if i could swap either a 95 explorer or a 88 bronco2 front end on my explorer i know it would take modifications but has anybody seen or done this?

Sorry if im intruding, but it goes with part of it! I was wondering if you could swap brake calipers out from a 2gen to a 1st gen! My calipers are both bad it pulls way bad when braking! So i was thinking if i can get better brakes for my money might as well! If anyone has done this let me know! thanks

There are fiberglass companies that make conversion kits to put a second gen front end on a first gen truck. Don't know about the 88 BII front end. If you are just looking for a different look for your front there are lots of other options while keeping the stock layout. Limited grill and bumper with paint-matched headlight trim, clear corner lights, aftermarket headlights, Ranger/BII grill, stainless, etc.

Some second gen brake parts can be put on a first gen, do a Search of the site and you'll find how-to threads.

There are ZERO 2nd Gen Front end brake parts that can be used on the 1st Gen.

You can change out for Ranger front calipers though. I think you have to get new knuckles too but it allows you to upgrade to a dual piston caliper which stops just a bit better than our single piston ones.

Yes, you have to get 95-97 Ranger Spindles...and that means 95-97 Ranger Rotors, Bearings, and seals.....THEN you can bolt on the 95-97 Ranger Calipers.

It's a spendy upgrade, for not much improvement.

Wouldn't it be just as much work to upgrade the whole spindle and everything to D44 outers? There's a article over on TRS About doing it.

You get better bearings, rotors calipers etc. plus there's plaenty more aftermarket for those anyway.

What would the best brakes for the money be for my 1st gen!

BACK to the original topic.... Yes I have seen it done, mostly with fiberglass on lifted trucks though. It could be done, you would just need a donor truck to swap and fab the parts from. The fun part will be getting the header panel and fenders to line up right. I think the 2nd gen is a tad longer in the front end.

I also see your in Fredericksburg. I have a 98 parts truck that you could have the whole sheet metal front end and header panel for cheap if you want. Im missing the headlights and grille.

how much?

how much?

Hood, 2 fenders, header panel, core support, corner lights ect. for $150 picked up in Va Beach. I have a trailer and could drop it off in Frederickrburg for extra $$

Basically the sheet metal from the firewall forward would be yours. and whatever else you want, its going to the scrapper soon.

you are correct, it is longer by about 3 to 4 inches. I did the conversion(with fiberglass fenders) I did the swap in a single afternoon. It isnt hard to get things lined up. Start with the hood, and match everything from that. Heres a pic of mine with the conversion.

Did you use the factory inner fender or extend it with the 95+ one? You change core support or use the 1st gen one? Truck looks sick!

Those are flared fenders, they are quite a bit wider and slightly higher than where the factory inner fenders go. You can buy those fenders, a grill, hood and a conversion header panel from a couple different places

i left the whole inner inner fenders, core support stock. I made some brackets and welded them off the front of the core support which bolts to the 95 core support. Ill get some pics of it when i get a chance. Thanks! far too much money into this thing, and im not even close to finished
