Hey, new here so I hope this is a proper place to post this, if not, my apologies ahead of time.

Ok, a little bit of background for you. I inherited a 1967 F-100 step-side a few years back that had a frame that was no good, so I needed to find a good way to "restore" the truck, without the frame (there was about 30% of the metal still intact, that being a generous guess...) So, the solution came when I found a 2002 Explorer that had been totaled; it was rolled so the body was ruined, the frame/engine/other mechanical everything was perfectly fine.

Anywho, the two vehicles got Frankensteined together, essentially the vehicle looks like a '67 F-100, but will mechanically be the '02 Explorer with the v8 and a duel exhaust system (She sounds great!)

Ok, so now that you understand the vehicle a little (which has been a 4+ year project hopefully to be complete within the next month or two) I will explain my actual question, in hopes someone can help me out. hah

I have ordered American Racing VN500 wheels for the truck, to keep it in a 60's muscle car-ish vibe/look. The only issue is, I hate seeing American Racing on wheels! I have been searching, rather unsuccessfully, to find new center caps for these wheels that are either A) name-less/logo-less or, most preferably, B) Have a nice Ford logo on them.

I am trying here because it makes the most sense from what forums I have found, American Racing doesn't seem to have one of there own. If they do, I am simply a moron.

But yeah, if anyone has any ideas as to getting new center caps that are not branded by American Racing, I would be MUCH appreciative if you could help me out. The wheels are currently being built, so I cannot give any dimensions or anything at the moment, it will be a couple weeks longer I believe until they arrive.

Overall, worse to worse, I keep the name as the wheels will still look very slick with the truck body. I can also get photos if anyone is interested in seeing the truck in various stages, as most people are when I mention the transformation. Hah

Thanks in advance for any ideas/whatever!
Patrick

I have painted aftermarket center caps, applied vinyl emblems on them, and cleared them for a few sets of wheels. That has worked well for me, and if done properly looks stock.

Not a Ford emblem, but here is one set I have done:

I have to do a set on my Mountaineer next, once I get the emblems.

sorry cant help you with the wheels but i would love to see your frankenstein truck!

I'm sure u can find a decal or something to cover up the american racing logo...and I def would love to see the truck also...sounds like a cool project I always wanted an old school f100

Where did you get your decals? Did you need to trim them to the correct size/shape for your caps? Also, did you put the decal down on the cap and make sure it was how it needed to be, then clear with a coat or two? Hah Those look very good, and if possible I would like to give them a shot!

And I have a couple photos I can share, most of the photos I have as it turns out are rather... bad. hah blurry and such, but here are a couple that you can actually see some detail in the photos. I am going out to where the truck is being painted in a couple of hours, so I can see if I can take a couple more, though they will be from a phone as I don't know where my cord is to upload with my actual camera. But here are the couple I have that work.

The truck as I received it.

The rear wheel well, there will be a fabricated splash panel of sorts to cover up the mechanics.

Again, I can get more photos soonish. But if anyone else does happen to have more ideas or anything for the wheels, let me know!

that looks really nice, good work, can't wait to see more

I think center caps are sorta generic, especially if they retained with a bolt and a backing plate. If you measure the diameter of that cap, you may be able to find an option you like more out on the wonderful world of eaby...

I will see what kind of cap it is once I get the wheels, hopefully they are generic enough that something else will work, designed for the VN500s or not.

I got a couple of photos of it today on my phone, the lighting was horrible in the garage and it was raining a bit so we didn't pull her outside. She is looking good however! hah I need to figure a good way to get the photos from my phone to the computer, normally I would upload them to facebook and save the file to the computer that way, but my phone isn't letting me choose any files in my pictures to post for some reason, will update soon though if possible.

I get my decals from eBay, this vendor:
http://shop.ebay.com/lee_bay_lee/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686

They do not typically have every brand listed, so just drop them an email through eBay telling them what emblem and size you need and they should be able to list it up for you.

I painted the caps I pictures above a flat black, then I applied the decals. I used a couple coats of clearcoat over that. There was some wetsanding a buffing in that process, too, but you get the general idea.

Well I am no stranger to wetsanding, so thats fine hah

Thank you! I will see if they can get some Ford ones and see if I have the time to try this out by the time I get the wheels in, hopefully I will. hah
