Hate the beat a dead horse here, but i've been doing my research on lowering my x and springs is the best idea. I started stripping mine and broke my first two nuts on my strut mounts so i just stopped and decided to reschedule.. i'm gonna buy new struts and mounts and put the springs on for a full swap out assembly, now my real question is what are the best struts i can run for lowering it. wether stock are fine, or there are some that may give me more then the 2" drop. Any input is appreciated as i'm new to the forum, and the explorer world. I'll post up pics of mine once i figure this out !:D

You need to buy lowering springs and assembly them with shocks to lower...there are no off-the-shelf options for preassembled bolt-in lowering options that I am aware of. I am please with the drop of the Ground Force springs that I used.

I recently replaced my struts with Monroe Reflex. I have the GF springs. The Monroes were a significant improvement over stock with the lowered springs, but it's still a fairly rough ride. I twisted off some of my mounting studs also. I ended up getting all (4) mounting cups from Advance. I used discount codes I found online and it was cheaper than anywhere else I could find online. I had trouble with the online checkout, so I called my order in. I talked the guy into giving me free shipping even though it didn't meet their minimum ordered requirement. I had bought the struts over a year ago when Monroe had one of their BOGO deals going on. I don't know of any direct fit struts that will give you more of a drop. You will need camber correction shims. I have the Ingals on mine, but I think there are cheaper alternatives.

Sorry for my miss wording, i do have a set of Ground force springs, but i ended up breaking off some studs when i was pulling out my struts so i was just wondering about what struts would be best to use when i replace everything with new struts AND lowering springs.

I've been reading a lot about people not being happy with the springs with the ride height especially in the rear. I just want to do this once, and do it right so was curious about the best set up to run, wether there was struts that'd help me get a better ride height. I seen someone post pictures of a bell tech drop, that was 2.5" around (if I'm not wrong) and it looked great, thanks !

i have my gf springs installed with a KYB struts...the ride is rough on bumpy streets but on a smooth highway its great...i also installed the set of eibach sway bars which helped in handling...

what're you running for wheels, could i see some pictures of how it sits ? i'd love to just run springs but I'm just scared i won't be happy. Did you see a substantial drop in the rear with the springs ?

I used Monroe shocks when I installed my GF springs, and am happy with the ride and handling it produced. The Bell Tech is more of a drop than the Ground Force. I believe the GF springs dropped me almost 2" all the way around. I have not heard of anyone not being happy with the rear? The drop is pretty even between the front and back. Here are a couple pictures of how it turned out on mine:

Same size wheels and tires i'm running, same lights and grills, so if that was black it'd be pretty close. :D Looks great !

Unless you are confusing struts for coilovers, no.
3rd gens use struts on front and rear (assuming no custom work has been done to switch to coilovers).
