Sorry for the noob question(s)..... I'm just now starting to get into doing work on my vehicle (except for the more advanced stuff).

I had my power steering flushed and refilled about 4 months ago. The fluid was nice and clean, red, and translucent right after that was done. Since then, I've added power steering fluid twice, and it's not exactly clean-looking. I've also noticed an oily mess underhood roughly below the power steering pump & reservoir, and especially since my brake fluid and engine oil levels were fine I suspect there is a P/S leak.

Today I looked into it a bit more and noticed a loose hose. Attached to it was a clip with a plastic push-in connector, but I couldn't figure out where it had come out of. It appeared that hose had been lacerated, so I cleaned up the best I could under there, duct-taped over the laceration, and zip-tied the hose on either end to secure it.

The hose appears to be running from somewhere underneath the battery to just between the intake and top of engine. I'm guessing it's some kind of cooler return hose, possibly a power steering low-pressure hose?

Here are some photos:

Last weekend when I was changing oil, there appeared to be a leak between engine and transmission. Both levels were fine though--which would be the likely culprit. I'm sure this couldn't possibly be related to the other leak.... or could it?

The last one is probably 'Crankshaft seal'. Lots of us have that. If it doesn't leak quickly, just use high mileage oil, I am using Mobile 1 high mileage 5W-30 for my 98 V8 which had this problem for over a year, and check the oil level regularly. Otherwise my mechanic told me $750 to replace it.

I'll try some Lucas Engine Oil Stop Leak and hopefully that will help. Does "high mileage" oil typically have seal conditioner additives as well?
