2017 Explorer LIMITED
Had this vehicle for about a week now & overall very satisfied. There are some things that I wonder about and some features I can't find.

I still have not found the inside power liftgate release. The manual says there is one, but I can't find it.

I don't like that there isn't any mpg option in the display. There is the miles to empty, a couple of different tach's to choose from, but no mpg. I liked that feature on the previous models that I had. I also don't like that the Sync 3 divides the home screen into 3 sections. One of those sections is the phone. I don't use this feature at all & would like to see only the map & radio information, but according to Ford, there is no way to remove the phone portion. Finally, I don't like not having buttons on the steering wheel to change the radio station. Just a few nit pick things, but when you get used to something it's hard to break the habit.

As far as I know there is no interior liftgate release other than the one on the dash by the driver's side, see page 65 in the Manual. Are you talking about a different one? Do you not have the Instant MPG display as an option in the left hand info screen?
BTW, your profile needs updating.;)

EDIT, just scanned through the Manual and it does mention Instant Fuel Economy in talking about settings.

Lem me see here, I have a '15 XLT with the auto lift gate. Button is on the dash, drivers side, lower left amongst some other buttons. Maybe they don't have this feature anymore on the new ones? Just kidding! I think you'll find that button in the same place as mine. As was said, you have the option in the left screen to put up the instant MPG their. Your average MPG will show up there as well. Maybe I'm not understanding that part or your question. As for buttons on the steering wheel, I'd like one for cruise missiles and another for some kind of machine gun :D but, that option is not yet available. Maybe aftermarket add on?

Seriously though, spend some time learning the screen features. I remember when I first got mine it seemed to be a bit overwhelming with all the 'stuff' and this ain't my first rodeo with these kind of features. Got no comment I can make about Sync 3 'cause I have Sync 2. I understand Sync 3 is way better although I've had no issues with Sync 2. Anyway, have fun with your discoveries.

You can change the radio station from the wheel. Right side buttons.

There is a Fuel Economy menu that tracks instantaneous and 5/15/30 minute intervals, and then fuel econ is also tracked on each tripmeter.

Is that only when you are in the entertainment selection? I am in the navigation selection & the buttons have no effect on the radio

Is the liftgate button next to the TOW button?
I have not seen the Instant MPG display option in the left hand screen. I read in the manual about the trip mpg

On my sport, I can change the stations using the left button on the right side of the wheel. I don't recall having to be in the entertainment section. I will check later after work and get back to you.

In my 14 Sport, doesn't matter what menu the right hand display is on, it will always change radio stations to the presets and adjust volume(unless I'm talking on Bluetooth phone in which case it will change phone volume).

Maybe a pic is in order?

That's where it was on previous models. I believe it is shown in the Manual.
Please update your profile with the 'trim' level (Base, XLT, etc.). Shows 2006.

Confirming that I can change the stations using the left button on the right side of the steering wheel regardless on what menu it is on

For the MPG, on the left side menu you need to be on the "second" option (from top to bottom) and you have 2 trip (1&2) ODO options here including MPG until you reset the ODO

I will try this later on the way home. Is yours a 2017? Just wondering if that made a difference

ok, I found that I can indeed change channels via the steering wheel. I was trying to use the buttons that control the right display instead of the lower group.

One final ?..........does anyone's console light up indicating which transmission position has been selected? The only place that I have found to indicate the selection is on the dash. Why wouldn't Ford light the console as well?

You know, I've never noticed whether the console shows gear selection. Why? Because it shows on the instrument panel. And before you ask, using the 'S' position will change your left info screen to the rpm gauge and show what gear you are in while you manual shift. I don't use this myself as I really don't consider the Ex as being any kind of a sports car. It's the family truckster and would-be trail blazer!

S is great for in-town for left turns on busy intersections and that sorta thing.

That's because you need the 3.5L EB...LOL

Not a reasonable alternative to this. I traded this in to get my Ex. While my Mustang(s) were fun, they had their time in my life but now, I need more versatility. :D :salute:
