SSM 50975 - 2017-2022 Various Ford And Lincoln Vehicles - Deep Sleep Mode Notification In FordPass® And/Or LincolnWay® Cell Phone Apps

Some 2017-2022 Ford/Lincoln customers may experience a notification in the FordPass®/LincolnWay® app indicating Vehicle Has Entered Deep Sleep Mode. This occurs when the vehicle has not been started for 14 consecutive days, battery voltage is at/below 9.5 volts or the body control module (BCM) 12 volt battery state of charge (SOC) drops below 50%. A warning may also set if the telematic control unit (TCU) has received an over the air update. The TCU powers down all communication when in this mode and app features are disabled. Manually start the vehicle to wake if from mode. More information is located in the app under: Account > Help > search 'Deep Sleep' in the entry box. If the condition remains, check the BCM 12v SOC. If the SOC does not change after charging the battery or after BMS reset is performed, continue with normal battery and/or BMS sensor diagnostics.

Recall 22C35

2020-2023 LINCOLN AVIATOR RECALLED FOR SEAT BELT CHIME ISSUE

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator models over a seat belt chime issue.

The defect: in affected vehicles, when the driver’s seat belt is not buckled and the vehicle is started, the seat belt warning system may activate the audible warning chime for an insufficient amount of time of less than four seconds. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, “Occupant Crash Protection.”

The hazards: an audible warning chime that does not properly alert of an unbelted seat belt can increase the risk of injury during a crash.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Components: audio control module software.

Affected vehicles: select 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator models produced at the Ford Chicago Assembly Plant between October 19th, 2018, through December 13th, 2022.

Number of vehicles affected: 72,248

The fix: dealers will update the audio control module software, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on February 6th, 2023. The Ford reference number for this recall is 22C35.

Issue: Some 2018-2021 Expedition/Navigator and 2020-2021 Explorer/Aviator vehicles equipped with a
10R80/10R80 MHT or 10R60 may exhibit a momentary transmission neutral-out condition while in drive. Vehicle may
also have diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P07E6 and/or P07E4 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) or
transmission control module (TCM) and/or a possible audible noise. This may be due to a leak in the park valve
circuit. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to inspect the park system hardware for wear or
damage and replace the valve body separator plate with an improved valve body separator plate.

Ford is recalling 118 units of its 2023 Explorer SUV because a missing or loose connection can result in a sudden change in steering effort or even cause the brakes to fail.

Ford tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that “the right front lower knuckle-to-strut fasteners may not have been installed or torqued to specification during assembly.” That can cause a wheel to slip out of alignment suddenly.

That could increase the effort required to steer. “Additionally, if the brake hose contacts the tire, knuckle, or strut, this can cause abrasion damage and a brake fluid leak. A brake fluid leak can result in extended braking distances or a loss of braking,” the company says.

Customers might notice a tire slipping out of camber, “leaning inwards at the top,” as the problem develops. They might also detect a burning smell caused by the tire rubbing against other parts.

Ford says it knows of no accidents or assemblies related to the problem, which was discovered at the factory.

"Dealers will perform an engine cycle test"

Sure would like to know what an engine cycle test is and how it predicts if your valves will break. Replacement engines available early 2026.:)

Here we go... great job Ford.

Id gladly take a new engine.

Be careful what you wish for. I would bet dollars to donuts the new engine for warranty/recall work would likely be a non U.S. built reman to get them through the rest of warranty period at the lowest cost.

Back in the day when I was at GM the Targetmaster was from Mexico. I have forgotten who did the reman for Ford but think it was done by District/Zone with ours out of Massachusetts by a local contractor.

You sir are correct… My father owned a Chevrolet dealership in Lake Charles Louisiana. In the mid 60’s 70s and early 80s, it was standard procedure When they had to do an engine replacement, they were replaced with a target master and yes, they were from Mexico.

I can also remember in the mid 70s Coca-Cola company used to have Dooley pick up trucks that pull their trailers those Dooleys had 454’s in them as the engines went out under warranty they were replaced by target master motors from Mexico.

They don't use reman parts for warranty.
