2017 Ford Explorer XLT
The wife's Exp into Ford due to squeaky brakes (43K miles). They looked at them and came back with the rear brakes being worn down to 4mm. The fronts were measured at 8mm (was told new pads are 8mm??). I didn't question it, but that did not make sense to me, but told them to go ahead and replace the rears.
The wife told me that after the work, there was a clunk that would show up under a heavy bump. Wife called back to the dealership to get it back in for the new clunk....they were so concerned about this that the soonest they could schedule it to get back into the shop was in a month. She insisted I go for a ride, and sure enough a bad clunk. I took the driver's rear wheel off and could not believe my eyes. THEY DID NOT PUT THE CALIPER TO CALIPER BRACKET BOLTS BACK IN!!!
Heads are going to roll at North Star Ford in Duluth tomorrow morning...definitely going to be a Monday for the service advisor and the technician.
In addition, when they replaced the battery, they didn't put the insulation jacket back on (will make them put one back on) and the passenger rear lugs were air wrenched on and WAY over the 100 ft lbs.
Oh, and by the way, the front brakes are the ones making noise.

That’s inexcusable.

Not good. I'd be very cautious about driving it.
Maybe have it towed @ dealer's expense?

As for the rear brakes wearing before fronts, that's fairly normal.
I replaced the rear brakes on my Ex at around 60k (or was it 70k) miles.
I'm now at close to 120k miles and the fronts are finally getting down there.

Also, rear brake dragging can be an issue if the pins seize up or the lube on them dries up.

I'll have to mention this to my in-laws since they live up that way and have 2 Fords.

UPDATE:
Dropped off at dealership and the service advisor was clearly upset by this. Made them give me a loaner.
Was starting to give them the benefit of the doubt until the Service Manager called me.

He started in by "well I can see by the video that the service tech put the bolts back in, but I can't speculate where they went. We will put new bolts in there for you". I jumped on him right away with the implication that i removed the bolts...."oh no, I am not saying that!" Damned right you better not; I said, if he put the bolts in, then he did not torque them to 24 ftlbs... so they would have fallen out. "well, we will put them in".

Then I brought up the insulator around the battery..."the video clearly shows there was not one" to which I cried BS, "that is the factory battery and it had an insulator from the factory in Chicago". Well out of good faith, we will put one on...how nice.

The marred bolt bores on all of the rims were marked up during inspection....they are going to have their detail department look at it and fix.

Last insult was the "oh we torqued the wheels properly with a torque stick...my reply "well then it is not properly calibrated to the air pressure and the gun, because I had to use a breaker bar to loosen the nut."

"The service tech is one of the best ones they have and is in the 94% range" Yeah, right.

I said that the initial complaint was the squeaking brakes which is still there....coming from the front, not the rear. I told him that i will not have them touch those brakes as I don't trust them anymore and will do it myself.

The hairs on my neck start standing up when the numbskull tries to defend it. Unbelievable.

I’d tell them sure, I’ll agree, but I’d like to see a video clip of the bolts going in the brakes, and the missing washer.

Nothing but Bull sheeet and lies there. I wouldn't set foot in that dealership again.
