Just got back from my first trip in the new Explorer Active 4wd. Drove from SE VA to Raliegh NC to visit family. The car was very comfortable. I took my very tall sister and her husband out to lunch Saturday and they were very comfortable in the back seat. The third row has not been tested by humans yet. Got 28.3 mpg on the way down. Not bad for doing 70 mph much of the way. Slowed down on back roads for the trip back and got 29.3 mpg at one point. Then traffic happened. Finished the trip as I got gas near home with again 28.6. The active CC works great. Infotainment worked perfectly with my cheap phone. (Galaxy A15) Collected a lot of bugs and dust, so a good wash in is order tomorrow. Car now has 1500 miles on the clock.

Looks good! The new front end is growing on me.

Took an hour drive out to lunch today to enjoy the sunny Saturday! Rolled past 2k miles. 2k miles in 2 months. I drive like an old man! LOL Bought a set of the factory weather tech style floor mats for it. Ford is having a 25% off sale right now. They are very nice and a perfect fit!

I drive 2k miles a year! 🤣
My leased '23 Aviator that I had for 13 months had 2019 miles on it when I turned it in for a '25 Aviator.

For 24 years before I retired, I worked in my home shop doing custom bike and sidecar upholstery. Hence the Sidecarnutz moniker I used 25 years ago and am now stuck with. With no commute and just supply runs for materials and to the shippers, I often only racked up 5-6k miles a year on my vehicle. Being an old mechanic, I also over-maintain my machinery.
I do really miss being to write off so much of my mileage on my taxes like I could while I was working. But by just using a tank of gas a month, I keep things pretty economical.

I thought I drove very little. I traded a 20 Edge on a 25 Explorer with 15k miles

I traded in my 22 Maverick XLT FX4 with just 16k miles on it on my 25 Explorer Active. It was quite minty. But Ford kept reprogramming it over and over for every silly recall and that had unintended consequences. Electronics became more and more buggy and it weas using up its battery while parked. I don't drive every day and by day 4 parked, it needed jumped. Battery was in good shape. Car was sucking it dry. Tried to get dealer to fix it and instead they played stupid and wasted a bunch of my time. I felt like they were trying to let the clock run out on the warranty and stick me with it. It only had a month of the full warranty left when I traded it in. Thats a shame as it was a darn nice car. Great combo of power and economy. Being an FX4 with the trailer package just made it even better IMO. The ultimate "utility" Maverick.

I got those on sale too! Perfect fit and very practical!
