I'm looking for a purge valve solenoid, but I only see parts for the 1996 Ranger 3.0, but never for the 1996 Mazda B3000 3.0.

Are these vehicles the same except for names and trim? Any experience with this?

thx!

Very interesting I see what you are saying

The std-cp403 canister purge crosses over to a ford part number and a Mazda number
But I cannot find the 95 or 96 b3000 with it listed as the part fitting the truck. Whereas it does fit a 95 or 96 ranger 3.0

Mazda number is ZZL013975

Maybe Mazda used a different charcoal canister setup?
Would have to look under the hood of one, we actually have a 96 Mazda here but it is a b4000 and just had A 96 b2300 hahaha

Mazda body is quite a bit different from the ranger and the interior is different trim
So maybe the evap system varies? I am not sure

Thanks! That number worked and I actually found the purge valve for sale!

Would you be able to find the part numbers for the:
1. purge valve sensor:
2. fuel tank sensor:

Or maybe you could tell me where to look for the part numbers?

Thanks for the help! Really appreciate it!

cool, thanks again!

Here's a picture of my purge valve sensor from a mazda site and that's exactly how it looks under the hood too, but they don't list the part separately, but it's right in line with the purge valve. In the Picture, there is a "star", so maybe they didn't always use it. Not sure what the star means. I would buy the complete assembly, but I can't find it anywhere...

That is just a bracket to hold the line in place
You can use any fuel safe line that fits

maybe we are looking at different things :-)

13-975 is the purge valve solenoid and one side goes to the purge valve canister and the other side goes to the purge valve sensor, that I circled. this is exactly how it's set up on my truck!

here it is for the 96 ranger

Oh snap you are correct!
Only the 3.0 trucks have that sensor I believe

Which is why I’m not used to dealing with them
So what is the question? Have you tried replacing the sensor? Famous brand 1065

I want to replace it, but I can't find one:banghead:. I was hoping that you would come up with a mazda part number :D

It does fit it should

Does it look like the one under your hood?
You could try to remove the sensor from the plumbing and just let it hang loose see if Ty at fixes the fume problem

physically it fits and looks the same, but I think it puts out different voltages that the computer doesn't like. I think that's why the Ranger version at all of the parts stores say that it doesn't, across the board as far as I can see...

I need to connect everything to pass SMOG. Truck runs great, but that's not good enough to pass

So the Mazda one is not longer available and the Ranger one looks the same plugs in and fits but you are still getting a code or?

Two other brands listed here

Google search for the ford part number

I really cannot imagine Mazda making their own canister vent sensor and having it be different from the ford version? Traditionally I have always been able to mix match similar year parts between the ford 3.0 rangers and the b3000
The 3.0 was also available in the Taurus
So maybe worth looking at the Taurus part numbers as well

If you replaced the sensor with the ranger one and you are still getting a code I would closely inspect the wiring from sensor to the pcm

I finally tested the solenoid and it appears to be stuck open in both directions. When I put 12V on it, there was an almost imperceptible click, but no opening/closing! When I tested the new part, you can't blow through it without power, and when you apply 12V it's a very obvious solenoid opening and after removing power, a closing sound. Easy and quick test of that part.

Anyway, here are pictures of the actual parts with numbers.

These parts worked in my 1996 Mazda B3000 to clear the DTC P01443 code and allowed the truck to pass SMOG! So clearly, Ford parts work and I don't know why parts stores won't list Mazda under these parts too. What a pain!

Hopefully this will help someone else. thx!
