My New, New 347
Small update: Things are moving along. Dimes is getting the rotating assembly balanced. He wasn't sure if he would be able to balance the crank to my 28 oz flex and harmonic balancer or not. He has seen many times that the zero balance cranks have enough extra material on them that they...- Dono

Maybe it will be warmer next weekend Tim. Even if your coming to the city and want to drop the stuff off one day so when were ready to go the block, hoist, etc. will be warm when I warm up the garage. Sorry to hear about the header. although I know a guy that has one that's reasonably local to...- Dono

returnless to Return style fuel conversion
Yea Imp, I really never counted on running in to this issue. It's a surprise, but the only way I can see to get the tuning portion right is to go back to return style. Tough to call it an upgrade when the factory did away with it a year or two before. I keep telling myself I gain a high end...- Dono

That makes no sense. What are you talking about? On our 2nd gen's that are returnless style there is no regulator in the engine bay. Are you talking about the fuel pulse leveling out diaphram in one of the factory rails? Also, for your info, you can't just restrict fuel. It needs to go...- Dono

returnless to Return style fuel conversion
Ok, this is off the rails. On the 2nd gen trucks, the returnless style just has the regulator at(or about) 65psi, and the regulator is in the tank dumping excess fuel. On the 2nd Gen truck the pump IS NOT pcm controlled. It is actually still a return style, except the return is happening...- Dono

returnless to Return style fuel conversion
So, the Deatschwerks carries a 3 year warranty, and the Aeromotive carries a 1 year. That says quite a bit. The cost difference is also minimal. That being said, I already have the Aeromotive pump. The other one in my truck has worked for years without issue. If nothing else, I will have a...- Dono

sct x4????
I don't know for sure, but I'd avoid updating your handheld. I 'think' if you had custom tunes, and the dealer you purchased them from completed training you 'should' be ok. Pretty vague...I wouldn't update. I completed the EPA training course thru Bully Dog, and lost no functionality after...- Dono

I don't know if you have installed one in an Explorer.... If you have, is this the pump? https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/dwk-9-305-1032/overview/ Does it come with a wiring pigtail?- Dono

Shoot..... I the pump just shipped. I have an aeromotive 340 pump now, and I thought I'd install a new one since everything was apart anyway. I better re-think that. Researching Deatschwerks pumps now.- Dono

Progress is slow, but Dimas is back at my block. The cylinders look like they are almost ready for pistons, surface decked, and the hole has been drilled and tapped for the knock sensor. I'm hoping it wont be long till the finish hone is done, and pieces start going in to the block.- Dono

returnless to Return style fuel conversion
Yeah, I was thinking of just trying to tune around injector data that was incorrect (ECU wont accept correct data) with the maf transfer. That throws calculated load off and probably other issues I dont even know of yet. I decided it's just best to do this properly. Start modding, and...- Dono

sct x4????
I'm certain this has something to do with the EPA also. They really went after Bully Dog (sct). You can google it. They really had to scramble to reach a compliance agreement with the EPA. There was a mandatory course to complete to retain extended functions of act tuning. It was an...- Dono

returnless to Return style fuel conversion
That's pretty much what I did with the bosh 60's I had. They are being changed out for Injector Clinic injectors since I think I have a leaky Bosch injector. The Injector Clinic Injectors have actual data at different fuel pressures. Problem is, my ecu is too old to accept the data at...- Dono

The 13130 regulator is rebuild-able also, and comes with gauge and 3 AN-6 fittings. That helped me make the change in configurations, lol. I have the same fuel filter ahodges uses, but I think JD had an issue with his filter element collapsing. I haven't looked at mine yet, but probably...- Dono

returnless to Return style fuel conversion
As I continue to flip-flop, It looks like I can use a less expensive regulator and go with the more traditional configuration that Aeromotive calls 'Optimal'. returnless to Return style fuel conversion
The picture is a return style. There are different methods of accomplishing the same thing. edit: The picture is right off aeromotives site, and I'd think I can trust them on fueling related stuff. If it does create issues, the dirty work of dropping the tank and running the return line will...- Dono

returnless to Return style fuel conversion
My feed line is 6-AN, and I have the hard line in my garage currently. I'd to that, but then I have an issue with mating the pump side. Its sounding more and more like it will just be easier to run AN-6 return right from the pump.- Dono

I should mention..... Here is what I have already, along with a AN-6 feed line right from the tank to fuel rails. I'm still trying to achieve close to 500rwhp. AN-6 feed will be fine for this. I would agree with you on the fuel pump wiring, as I can't see any reason why it would be different...- Dono

Tuning my 347 with rear mount turbo
Ok, Posting up a new thread on converting to return style fuel pressure. I'm in no rush. Maybe towards the end of next month I'll start collecting parts. In the new thread I do have a question on the return push lock fitting size though. returnless to Return style fuel conversion -
returnless to Return style fuel conversion
Quick background so everyone knows where I'm going here: I have a requirement to go return style fuel arrangement one my 2000 Explorer 5.0 as I need to get fuel pressure down to 40psi. The reason for this is my injector data is out of range for inputting in to the ECU at 60psi fuel pressure. I...- Dono

Betty's "I want to be a mule" progress log thread
The guy I bought my brackets from over on rangerforums has a long thread of guys doing the install. It is messy, with guys adding eyelet extensions to clear the cv's and not checking travel. They were bottoming out their shocks, making a real mess. Simple math told me that was going to...- Dono

Tuning my 347 with rear mount turbo
I thought about trying to pressure test, but the only way to test 60psi and not have the injectors push out is to pressure test in a lower intake flipped upside down, or build some bracketry ti hold the injectors to the rails. My fuel system stays pressurized after shut down. I confirmed this... -
Betty's "I want to be a mule" progress log thread

Tuning my 347 with rear mount turbo
Yea Jon, it sure does. I'm going to need to do something, but all my money is going in to a truck that has an empty engine bay. How dumb am I? Tim, I'd want to replace the pump for sure. I have a Aeromotive Stealth Electric Fuel Pump 11542 340lph that has an offset outlet. I'm not sure what... -
Tuning my 347 with rear mount turbo
If I can tune around the 60psi and it works great then I won't go down the returnless road. If I'm still having issues, then I will go return style so the injector data is correct. At least then it's one less possible issue. Yes, I hope Andrew chimes in if he has converted to a return fuel... -
Tuning my 347 with rear mount turbo
Yea. This is expensive. We all knew this going in, but my eye's still water. I cry myself to sleep sometimes, lol. What I really need is a reliable vehicle that I'm not embarrassed to drive. Currently I don't have that. I did hear back from Tim ad Injector Clinic, and he says I'm pretty... -
Tuning my 347 with rear mount turbo
Don emailed back. Issue #1 was my inability to multitask. Don actually suggested ID Injectors. I guess trying to to multiple things at once really does create issues. oops. Those Injector Dynamic injectors are crazy expensive. I'm not to excited about that. So, I say to myself, lets just... -

Tuning my 347 with rear mount turbo
I just sent the email to Don. I was hoping he will have something to say about it. I sent him my tune file and the spreadsheet I'm working on. If it is an Advantage issue, I'm sure Don would have better luck dealing with SCT than me. I just reset the injector values in Advantage to default... -
Tuning my 347 with rear mount turbo
lol. Thanks Tim. I just have a very bad feeling that I will have to do this. Not till its warm though, and by then I'll know for sure what I need to do. Once its warm, I'll also be able to look at your truck and how the lines are ran and adapted to your fuel rail. I'm hoping I don't have to...
